Eeek
First I see that Innokin may have changed the threading on the SVD
Now the IClear may have to be tinkered with
Was hoping those two were going to form the foundation of my daily vape

PezzHi Robby Oddly from Mr GrimmGreen who had a pre-release one for review and has just done a follow up after he bought one. I couldn't work out how to link the video itself but it's quite high up on his start page GrimmGreen

Okay, stripped the iclear30 down and unscrewed the coil assembly and tube off the base of the iclear. You have to tease that centre pin up, there is a "flat" on the side of the pin which helps a lot. The crossed coils from an unused iclear16 The centre pin Centre pin raised ready to take out. Take the pin out. At this point if you look down the tube you will see a white rubber grommet with a wire on the outside of it between the grommet and the outside of the tube, and a wire coming through the centre of the grommet, didnt get a pic for that. Tease out the grommet, it comes out easily. Unlike the Novas that I have double coiled, there is another piece of white rubber tube inside the metal tube. This is to keep the wires apart and the centre "live" wire away from the metal tubing where it would cause a short. Gently pull out the top coil through the top of the assembly, then do the same with the bottom one. Unlike the Nova, there will be some slight resistance as you pull the wire through the rubber tube that is keeping one wire against the metal tube. They look like this I dont know why it surprised me, but it did, there is a piece of sleeving on each wire and it uses non res wire. I tried in vain to take the tube out of the base of the assembly without any success. At this point I said to myself "To hell with this for a game of soldiers" and took the 1.6 ohm double coiled tube and coils out of one of my spare iclear16s and put it into the iclear30 lol. They are exactly the same only lower resistance coils in this case. I have some coils and wicks ready made on their way from China, I will use those and do them the same way as the Nova, ie one directly above the other and not crossed. I think that configuration makes it less likely for the coils to touch. When it comes down to it, this is just a double coiled Nova ready made. I wont be using non res wire and see how it goes. The coils that were in the iclear30 did look really close together when I first looked at them before I took them out and I am not surprised that they may have touched causing the lower resistance and burn taste. The way I do the novas is with the wires twisted together on either side of the coils so it is easier to set a gap and be reasonably confident that the gap will stay the same because the wires are twisted together.

If they are going to use non rez wire, why not zap the coil wires together near the top and then put one non rez wire on each side and cut off the excess coil wire. Probably would have made the atty easier to assemble as well. bomberharris

It is yes, made of the same material as the grommet at the bottom It`s a pity you cant separate the bottom gnurled bit from the tube, it would make it a lot easier. bomberharris
