Has anyone any ideas on how to unroll a roll of rubber sheeting we managed to unroll 2mtrs which had a protective cover on it, the rest of the roll doesn't look like it has any and it won't unroll. We have spent nearly 4 hours getting another mtr off with hot water and soap. We need to have another 3 mtrs done tonight ready for the morning. We are bot Kn*****d.

If you can do it outside how about a bit of petrol, when I worked in a rubber factory we used to use toluene but I would not recommend that for diy use

Thank you Fred, I have tried a hairdryer that didn't work.
Lazydog if I have no joy with it tonight. I will try that in the morning outside before the family arrive. Its a dam big heavy roll its 3mm thick 120 cm x 800 cm long. We thought it a good idea to put it down down under the new hot-tub, this bit now is holding us up. I will be putting in a complaint once I can get through to the the firm I am sure there should be a protective cover all along the roll so this wouldn't happen.

Might be a good idea to take a picture of it to back up your claim,we used to get it sometimes where it had come of the mill and the plastic wrap missed a couple of turns of the polymer a petrol soaked rag should do it but you will need a couple of people to help to hold the roll and to pull the lose stuff off and be quick because once the petrol has dissolved the outer surface you wont have long before it sticks again but next time will be 10 x worse. Even park the car on the loose 'flap'and pull the roll might make it easier we used to use the fork lift!

Lazydog, we have managed to get it unrolled with a lot of heating, pulling and pushing there was a little bit off melted wrap on the last 40cm, that unrolled dead easy, its now cut and ready to lay in the morning. Hubby is now wishing he never suggested the rubber, what sounded like an easy option has turned out to be flippin hard work we are both aching in our hands and arms and exhausted trying to unroll the dammed stuff. Daughter and son-in law are doing a 100 mile round trip on their day off work just to help move the tub they can't stop long thats why we have to have everything in place. Once the rubber is put down we should have time before they arrive to put three sides of the summerhouse up before we push in the tub close to the back wall, then we can do the rest ourselves.
