www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/9968370/Unions-consider-first-general-strike-since-1926.htmlMind you this has been looming for a while wondered how long before it would winter of discontent some will remember ! Unite, Britain's biggest union, is understood to be leading calls for a super-strike in protest against the Government cuts. A document drawn up by the union described a general strike as "desirable", according to the Financial Times. The newspaper reported that Unite believes: “It would be a landmark in our movement’s recovery of its morale, strength and capacity to play a leading part in a society crying out for credible and honourable leadership." However, other less radical unions would be likely to oppose the idea. The idea of a general strike was proposed at the Trade Unions Congress last year by the Prison Officers Association. Unite, Unison and the GMB all backed a motion to consider the "practicalities" of a general strike. A general strike would cause more upheaval than protests against the Coalition so far as it would encompass both the public and private sector

It won't happen. People just don't seem to have enough fight in their belly like they used to.

It disgusts me that the people of England wont fight back. It actually is a sickening feeling under my skin that we have become so entrenched in our own existence that we don't do anything about anything even if we know things need action. MEDIA + MEDIA my friends, DUMBED down by our own governments for the last 20+ years, call me crazy, call me mad but its a FACT. Not only that but mass population experiments that have and ARE continuing to this day. Again call me crazy but I know real scientific evidence backs it up. Do you really honestly think the government want's intellectual people who can think on their own? Happy living

At least they have the option to strike and don't have to just roll over everytime the govt moves the goalposts.

Unions don't help, especially when they get power mad. They ruin companies, and without the company you work for in the first place still in existence, you won't have a job. Look at british airways and the union in power there, is it not one of those quoted, unite or unison. Sad really, not sure how long they can continue like that. And then where will all the staff be? Jobless.

The biggest problem is that there really is very little sense of community left. Long gone are the days when most looked after each others back. We have a whole generation raised on the me, me, me ethos. If it doesn't affect THEM why should i bother? They cannot, or will not look at the long term. I do live in hope that this government will push their luck ust that little bit too far, but even then I am not sure we will reach the straw that breaks the camels back.

There is to many people living in their little hamlets of the UK oblivious of whats really going on You know the type "All Kashmir sweaters and Marital aids" . . .They dont live in the real UK . . .Because they dont need to. I'm off before I say something I will regret

I agree with you Dolly, but to be honest i don't think it was this government that caused that, nor the handout and not have to work expectation, and made parents afraid to spank their children. That was Labour. Not a fan of this government either, but they are picking up the pieces that labour left,,,,,,,,,,, To be honest they are all as bad as each other, when the party ends, you look around and you are still standing in the shit. Lenny, did you mean something like a dildo? They're great, should try it.

Oh i agree with you 100% I don't align myself with any of them. I did lean towards the LIB/DEMs at one point, but that has long slid down the pan. To be honest I am sick to my back teeth of all of them. If I knew there was a day of protest, I would get my wjeelchair out and go. It would be the first time ever, but I have so much simmering anger inside for what is happening i feel the need to express it in some way.

The first cut should be the outrageous amount of money that is fed to the EU on a daily basis.......... trading favours and backhand deals. We don't need that crap. Politics is corrupt...... Money in politics is the route of all evil.

Money in politics is the route of all evil. Add that overseas aid to countries who are richer than we are (India) yet choose to distribute their wealth amongst the elite ( leeches)
