Had this email from chefs vapour after placing an order today don't know just how serious this breach could be but not exactly ideal.
Anybody else had this response ?

On the 26th of June 2015, we discovered our website had a breach in security. This led to some customers information such as Name and Addresses potentially being shown. This was active for around 1 hour before we had implemented a fix. Whilst we're unsure of how many peoples information was shown, we're sure that it was minor in comparison to the amount of customers we have. We approximated that it's more than likely, less than 1% of our entire customer base that was on display.

Why did this happen?

Our hosting provider enabled a caching system that in theory is supposed to boost webpage load times by serving the end user a cached version of our website. We're currently awaiting a repsonse from our web hosting provider for specific details of how and why this happened. I can confirm that the breach has now been patched.

We will update you with more information as soon as we know more from them.

tbh Chefs have no blame in this. But honestly, any host would have known what would happen before flicking the switch. I trust someone's on the carpet for this

I don't think we can blame chefs vapour ... I did like the touch of offering the discount code for 20% on orders placed up to 29th June

I would say well done chefs vapour for letting us all know so quickly and offering a little something by way of an apology

Not trying to lay blame on anybody Ripshod, only trying to gauge the severity of the breach that occurred. I don't order much in the way of concentrates from any other vendor and I don't see that changing anytime soon. Always had great service from the guys at chefs, but above all they've always been open and honest.

I figured something was up as I tried to log on last night and when I just hit my usual icon on my favourites list it came up with two other customers names as my log in instead of mine, I was Stephen something and Matthew something.

Sounds like it was retaining logged in customer session cookies on the server ..............and other customers were accessing the same ones.

Checked my account last night with them, but did not have any of the issues mentioned. I did have to take advantage of the 20% discount though
