Ok where shall I start? (This could be a long one lol) Ok on the 13 of March I went shopping in a supermarket, and thought "I wonder if they do e-cigarettes here?" After a quick look around the NRT products I asked the man behind the counter, he said "they are over by cigarettes". I got over and they had a couple over there, and decided to go with E-Lites and they also claimed that each e-tip is equivalent to 40 traditional cigarettes. I thought "Great, will save me money even on my Golden Virginia". So I bought a cigarette and 2 extra tips. I decided I was going to start the next day, but when I got home I was impatient (as I always am with new things lol) so I opened it up and had a go. It was ok, not quite like my GV but tasted ok. The next day I then picked up a charger. After 3 days I had almost run out of tips, and the Mrs saying "that I'm using it too much as they are meant to be 40 smokes in each tip". But I persevered got some more tips, and started doing a bit of research on them, many good reviews and a few saying they are good, but don't last for 40 smokes. I then started looking around on their website, and saw they do a PCC case and extra tips and batteries, and a discount code where you got a pack of 5 tips free too. I so nearly ordered it but I stumbled here, and then slowly thought about moving away from e-lites but was still looking at cig-a-likes. There were so many different kits to look at (all doing very similar) my head started to hurt lol. So I googled e-cigs in my area to see if I could have a look and low and behold a shop 5mins walk from my work. I popped down their and picked up some juice to refill my e-lite tips as it would work out cheaper from the research I did. I then had a quick look around their site, and loads of help from here I went down to the shop and picked up an EGO 1100 kit but upgraded one battery to an Ego Twist 900. And wow how much difference to E-Lites and I was very glad I didn't order a PCC from E-Lites for alot more than what I paid for my ego kit £44. Ok so that's the kit I'm using, now what to put in it? I thought tobacco flavours were the way to go (as I did enjoy the flavour) and tried a number of difference ones. My favourite was Virginia but that soon became not very nice. I then got a few sweet ones which I think we're worse than the Tobacco ones. Lets not forget at this point I have my better half nagging that I'm spending far more than I was on smokes! So I thought I need to get this sorted quick. kirrielad very kindly gave me some juice he no longer used, and swapped one of the ones i didn't like on the classified section. I went down to my local vendor again and bought some spearmint flavoured, and whilst I was there a Kanger T2 with 2 extra coils. And that was the one! Tasted just like wrigleys chewing gum, so after about 10 different flavours I had finally found one I like YES!! After a couple of weeks, and hearing about Mixology I thought it would be cheaper to mix my own, rather than paying £4.45 for 10mls. So I took the plunge and ordered enough to make about 200mls and in total spent £28. Bargain! Whilst I was waiting for it to all arrive I bought some more liquid and a dripping atty from my local and a Vivi Nova that is far too big for my EGO lol. This is where I am now, mixing a few mint flavours, but none of them are tasting quite right, but they are slowly getting there (adding too much concentrate). And oxo very kindly sent me a few tasters of concentrates. My birthday is in a weeks time and thinking of buying a Vamo to fit my Vivi Nova on and they just look so shiney . I think I have covered everything, sorry it's a long one, but I hope it will be helpful to many new users that are confused to start as I was. My current spend on e-cig equipment is £117, so not quite break even but very close to it. And one last thing, and the most important. Thanks everyone who has helped me get to where I am, if it hadnt been for them, I would be still on the e-Lites or similar or even back on the stinkies. I think the first month is the biggest learning curve but once you get your head round the basics it all starts to flow pretty easily. Thanks again all you have been extremely helpful

Great post matt and congrats on your first month off the ciggies Now go buy yourself a Vamo as a reward When my other half moans about how much I've spent I just leave the Provari website open on the laptop so he's actually relieved when it's just a clearo, a battery or some juice that arrives in the post LOL so far it seems to be working

But before I buy anything more, I will have to break even. But hopefully I'll get some cash for my bday so then I can say it's my money hehe. The problem I'm having is that my other half quit cold turkey, and she is saying I'm still smoking, and that I should start using it less! But she does have days where she will have a few vapes on my device because she feels she needs a smoke.

Good on ya Matt. I too was fortunate that I found Menthol e-juice which took me from the Menthol fags I smoked, comfortably into the vaping scene.
Tobacco e-juice wise I was also lucky in that I "found" Royal flavour at Paradise Vape and I am still using that as my prefered tobacco flavour. It is slightly sweet and mild and very much the british Tobacco flavour that I remember.
Vaping, for me, is so much more than just a hobby. There are so many parts to it and there is enough bits to interest everyone. Smoking cigarettes is just so boring compared to Vaping!

Oh I forgot to say how easy it was for me to get off the stinkies. Before I had tried patches, gums, inhalers and sprays to try and get me off. The longest I had lasted was 2 weeks, and I was back on them. This time round, despite all the messing around with flavours and finding the right kit and the oh moaning, it was so much easier. Ok I haven't got off the nicotine, just found a safer way to enjoy it. And now it has been a month, I really think I have kicked the habit. Now whether I try to reduce my nicotine intake is still in much debate in my household, but for now I am enjoying vaping and here's to another month and beyond

Tell the OH that you are exploring a new subculture and that your highly developed sense of civic duty demands that you research this new social phenomena to it's fullest extent, leaving no stone unturned.

matt i found that once i got onto a vamo with vivi's it is easier to overdoo the nic so you may find in the next month or so u may drop your nic content anyway as your puffing more through your new delivery source. Great news on a month and good luck with the next
