I've gone back to 2mm SS rope and a bit of mesh around the top.
In all honesty, this ROCKS! Any dry hits from mesh are a distant memory.
I would recommend anyone to try the SS rope on a genesis. It makes the genesis atty so much nicer.

womble, do you put the mesh on top then flame the wick or burn the ss first, put mesh on then flame again?

womble, do you put the mesh on top then flame the wick or burn the ss first, put mesh on then flame again? I burn the SS rope first to make sure it's free of any contaminants, then cut and flame a bit of mesh. Then roll the mesh and fit it tightly round the top of the rope, that's it. When I build the 1st coil, I do it the same as I did the last of my mesh ones, do a slightly loose coil (but still touching!), which enables me to turn the wick within it, then a quick blast on the button, turn wick, repeat until the coil glows evenly.

Just tried my first SS rope & mesh wick. Update, still using that very same wick and coil with no sign of it fading off yet, so three weeks running about 6mls through it daily. Every day or two I take the rope and mesh out, dry burn the coil to get rid of crud and roll the mesh bit (still with the rope in the middle) to loosen off crud on it. Then stick it back in and dry pulse to look for hotspots and turn it till I get an even glow again. With mesh only the best coils I could manage lasted two weeks tops using the same maintenance.
