I would suggest that you get your wife to hold the vapour in her mouth for a few seconds, before taking it down. I found this made me cough a LOT less. Also a different juice may help her. But well done you, and tell mrs deadbolt to hang in there - it does get easier.

Well done mate. I'm sure the Mrs will get there to. What strength liquid is she using? Might be a bit on the high side, I started on 24mg but dropped down to 18mg as I found the 24 quite harsh. Just a thought.

Well done DB! It's quite an achievement isn't it. I echo the advice already given, a slightly different technique to cigarette smoking would probably make a difference for you wife along with a lower strength liquid.

Well done deadbolt !!
For Mrs Bolt I'd echo what's been said about both nicotine strength and technique. The technique to vaping is very different to smoking. With a cig you take a quick deep drag, and pull it as far into the lungs as possible then blow out the smoke. With vaping you need to take a long (3-4 second) slow draw. Keep the vapour in your mouth and throat for a couple of seconds (this is where the nic is absorbed) then either inhale it or simply exhale, prefereably through the nose which helps with the flavour

Congratulations deadbolt1970 ! A few people I have given goes on mine have been coughing, sometimes it can just be the particular flavour, sometimes it can be down to technique - a lot of people try and inhale direct into their lungs like a ciggie, but this can trigger coughing! Maybe not inhaling for a little while whilst getting used to the 'feel' of vaping might be useful? Good luck!

I used to cough my guts out smoking (pretty literally) so I like a little cough...but agree it can be embarrassing. But I echo the advice given as I don't always cough

Great news deadbolt. Agree with all the advice given so far. It took me nearly 2 weeks to get used to vaping. Coughing, sore throat, nightmare but came out the other side a happy bunny. Keep it up and try a few of the ideas given above and see how you and mrs deadbolt get on. Remember to keep up the water intake.

I had that problem as did a friend of mine. Try as we might we couldn't change the way we vaped, we coughed anyway. We both found that it was sorted by changing to 50/50 pg,vg and sticking to a menthol blend for a while. It's worth a try, what juice are you vaping? Well done on your 48 hours, tell your wife there is a solution out there for her and with the help of this forum she will become a non smoker.

Hi DB As advised by the others get some small sample liquids with different nic and pg/vg mixes and see what works best for her but i must admit after a few weeks or so i found that i was not always taking the smoke straight into my lungs i was enjoying the taste in my mouth before inhaling. Most of all dont give up there is a way for your home and cloths to smell lovely and smoke free again:)
