And in two years time how many millions of users will there be in the UK? I would hazard a guess at over 3M, they really cant make this fad go away that easily. and a massive market growth coming probably as people learn more and start stocking up on e cigs, liquid etc

"Jeremy Mean, the MHRA’s Group Manager of Vigilance and Risk Management of Medicines, said:
"Reducing the harms of smoking to smokers and those around them is a key Government health priority. Our research has shown that existing electronic cigarettes and other nicotine containing products on the market are not good enough to meet this public health priority."
**** you Mean! You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about!
Anyway. Although it looks scary it changes nothing for the moment. We all knew this was what everyone was pushing for and this just confirms what they plan to do. We still have to keep on the pressure in Brussels as strangely (some) MEPs there actually seem to care if we live or die unlike the BMA, NICE and MHRA.

If you think ECITA are going to take this lying down, you are so very wrong!

BTW there is no TAX on medical products. But the cost of making them a medicine will boost the price up. Ultimately this is good news for those that want to just use look-a-likes, but for those that use egos/mods then this 'could' be bad news. But we will have to await the MHRA's full proposal. But we have 2 years to build up nic bases, and get replacement mods, atties etc. Or 2 years to fight the proposal, or both

@mp2012 does this mean that MHRA have already gone through or back to the RCP has it had to previously, if so what changed in it's proposal that will allow it to do this. Ecita seemed to be quietly confident that the MHRA had nothing new to add from it's last attempt to regulate . . . . other then a change in goverment that's even more desperate for cash than the last lot www.ecita.org.uk/blog/?p=445

If I had the cash I would start stockpiling now seriously, alas I'm broke and unemployed so can't even do that. I did manage to get hold of 1.5 litres worth when I was working but alas this will not last me till I die. That's unless my mental health doesn't get worse of course and I top meself, which seems to be what government wants to do with the long term sick nowadays anyway.
Gotta hope legal challenges go our way, which technically they should but governments have been known to ignore rule of law when it suits them.

We don't even know the full scope of any recommendations yet. If it does all turn to shit then I will think again. But battery tubes and RBA's etc will still be available and there will be ways of getting nic base etc. Basically although feeling angry, I am trying not to over-react just yet.

Just my 2 cents worth on the whole medicines thing-
Has it been mentioned that they will be a prescription medicine? If not, then surely there is less of a problem than we're possibly thinking.
After-all, paracetemol, asprin, ibuprofen are all regulated as medicines, however I can LEGALLY buy them in a pharmacy, a petrol-station, the corner shop and even from abroad, on the internet.
I'm not fully up to speed with the situation, but just being regulated as medicines, may not necessarily mean only available in pharmacies.

The MHRA is NOT regulation, it is their advice to the EU. They are basically kicking it back to the EU, but they have to say something, so they have said this. So relax, stop panicing, it is an advisory note in an effort to back up McAvon, it is NOT REGULATIONS.
