Err... like to say hello as a first time poster after being a long time reader. Excellent site BTW And, I'm not connected/affiliated to this manufacturer or shop, this is a pure 'Joe Public' mention which may be of use or an opportunity for others to say it's pants? ??? So, have been looking for a 12volt car plug to let me use passthroughs and vape/charge on the go. I also have a need for a beefy cigarette socket to power a 48watt cooler unit. Having a trawl discovered the Ring RMS15 which ticks all my boxes, and, sports a mini USB plug on a 1 meter retractable lead to run my SatNav so I can ditch the incumbent umbilical cord. Result. RING SITEThe mini USB on a chord is rated at 1amp, the regular USB socket at 2 amps, and the cigarette sockets/unit overall a wapping 120watts which with 12volts is 10amps, (trusted sparks formula, Amps = Watts divided by Volts). Most cheapo 2 or 3 into 1 plugs seem to be rated at only 2 or 3amps, so (hopefully) no more blown fuses every few minutes or melting housings - yes I've had both. More, the unit also has a 4 LED battery condition indicator They're supposed to sell for £20+ and Amazon can deliver one for @ £16.50, BUT, Argos have it on short offer for £12.99 pick-up in store or free delivery, (as on 18 June 13). Ordered mine Sunday and it turned up today, by courier. ARGOS - their code 715/4667 Look forward to giving it a full work-out, so far so good (have a few spare 10amp glass fuses though )

Looks fine to me, as a bit of a "Road Warrior" I have a double adapter and a couple of 1A output USB adapters, luckily I also have 2 USB sockets built into my car for low current stuff. I also have a 500w inverter so I can re-charge my laptop

Sounds like serious sparks there. You could really Griswold your wheels at Christmas then

Following the deluge of interest in my Ring car adapter post , I realised a typo. The “mini USB plug on a 1 meter retractable lead” is a ‘micro USB plug’ like it states on the Ring and Argos adds. Some things use mini and some micro for reasons I’m sure a sparks can explain - to me it’s a little plug. The regular USB works fine with my passthrough and, as a ‘mini’ USB suits me better than a ‘micro’, I snapped on an adapter and now have either or.
