I'm sure this has been covered before, but could someone please let me know what is the difference in performance and usage of Ekowool and silica wick - thanks. Can I simply substitute one for the other, or do I have to treat Ekowool differently? Andy

For me Ekowool absorbs juice much more quickly and is all i use now, i also boil new Ekowool for 15mins (some say you don't have to but i do) and flame it before i coil anything.

Funny enough, I was just about to start a thread, asking the same question.......Basically, what is the difference & the benefits/comparisons?
Also, what about the ribbon?
*Hope this hasn't hijacked the thread...........

I just tie a knot in the end of my silica and ekowool. In terms of physical size, the Eko is slightly fatter than its silica counterpart in all mm's, but I've not had any issues getting it fitted into anything. Eko is a braided tube instead of a twisted/woven string.
Using 2mm Eko, I slide an unbent paper clip inside it when wrapping the coil, which is a bonus feature.
I haven't tried ribbon kanthal yet, but the idea is the the wire will cover a greater surface area of the wick, and thus vaporise the juice more efficiently. 0.1x0.4 is the equivalent of 0.2 kanthal wire in ohms per metre.

thanks...looks cheap too....are they good on delivery? Mine took 2-3 days but worth it, my last order was this: Ordered 5 meters of 3mm Ekowool, received 10 meters Ordered 10 meters of 0.2 Kanthal, received 15 meters Plus a free reel of something else, think it's nic wire. Don't know how long the freebie thing will last though.

I've been using ekowool in my evods for a few weeks now.
Ive found that I'm using 1mm ekowool wick with the coil wrapped around it and a seperate 1mm flavour wick.
I started with 2mm wick on its own but found that 1mm + 1mm worked better.. more flavour and more throat hit.
I also use the ribbon with the above wicks and its brilliant!
0.3x0.1 gives ~48? per metre and the 0.4x0.1 gives ~37? per metre. 0.20 A1 is ~43?
I haven't boiled my ekowool but I do the following;
Cut a length and roll it in my fingers to make it round again. (Will probably be flat when it arrives) Douse in chosen juice and set alight with blowtorch. Let it burn out and repeat twice more. Flame wick with blowtorch until it glows white and douse in juice again. Insert straightened paper clip to keep its shape and wrap the coil. Doing this means you wont strangle it. Insert coil and wick into evod head, assemble, and dry burn to check coils glow evenly. Cut wick to desired length, and use leftover to make flavour wick. Reassemble top post Remove from battery Fill tank Put it all together Vape!

The Mesh Company have always included free stuff - ordered an A3 sheet of 500 mesh and got one free too Nice to know the Vape Mesh Co are doing it with Ekowool - makes it worth me getting some more (as friends keep on 'stealing' it) Does mean of course that i don't actually need to order anywhere near as much - but then again i suppose i recommend them to enough folk to make up for it

Can I just verify?.............If I normally use 0.20 kanthal, which of the ribbon is equivalent?.....0.3 or 0.4? This is the information I can find. Ribbon Kanthal A-1 Resistance (?/m) 0.30mm x 0.10mm 48.42 0.40mm x 0.10mm 37.07 0.50mm x 0.10mm 30.2 0.60mm x 0.10mm 22 0.70mm x 0.08mm 21 0.70mm x 0.10mm 19.6 Round Kanthal A-1 Resistance (?/m) 0.15mm 81 0.17mm 63.01 0.20mm 43.60 0.23mm 32.85 0.25mm 29.30 0.27mm 25.53 0.28mm 22.69 0.30mm 19.60 As you can see there are no like for like, but in my eyes the 0.3*0.3 is a closer match to the 0.20
