Maybe we would have a better chance of beating bigP if we took the lead in regulations. Here's some things to consider.
1) Informationn about SS mesh. I tested some with a magnet, some was attracted, some wasn't. Shouldn't be difficult for vendors to state the grade of steel used and the other elements in the steel.
2) SS wire likewise.
3) Replace polycarbonate with pyrex. A bit more expensive but longer lasting. Also it would mean bigger devices or smaller capacity tanks. But polycarbonate gives the vape a bit of a plasticy taste which means some of the plastic is chemically reacting with the juice and we are inhaling it.
4) Quality control for silica wick - a minimum particle size.

Proper enforcement of existing regulations would cover most of that too, just takes trading standards to actually enforce stuff. Perhaps some advertising rules for the SS and Silica though. The polycarbonate vs borosilicate argument is a whole different thing. For instance the juices I use don't get a plastic taste to them in plastic tanks but I know a reaction is still occurring, just slower than with more reactive flavours. Ideally glass is the way but some people don't like the extra cost. I mean the liquid comes in plastic bottles for the most part too so leeching happens there as well.
Also if we bring such things up now they will use them as ammunition against us to prove e cigs aren't safe and should be fully medically regulated.
