Depending on the device, tightening and loosening of the atty can alter the vape a bit, airflow wise.
However, over tightening should not be done because it can damage the battery contacts.

Lordy, a couple of other reasons you may not be getting a good vape -
1) your cartridge isn't wet enough - so needs filling with more juice & add a couple of drops directly to the atomiser 2) You have filled it too much & flooded the attie. If so, remove attie from battery, blow out excess juice & wipe clean battery & attie contact points.

If you tighten it too hard you could push the battery connection in on the battery. Then you won't get a good contact, so be careful when attaching everything together.

There is no need to overtighten it, as all you need is a good electrical contact. As Jason said, over tightening may restrict the airflow. A snug fit is good enough.
Listen to what Chrissie said, those are probably the reasons that you are not getting a good vape.

Lordy, just be aware that we all have 'off' days, where nothing seems to work - for unknown reasons. Sooooo frustrating. Even more so when the whole lot kicks in at a later stage, when you haven't really done anything to chage it all. However, for days like those, I ensure that I have a freshly charged battery ready and waiting, along with a new attie. I make sure everything is clean and tidy (no juice dripped somewhere etc.) and also make sure that my juice is of the right consistency. You don't need it too thick, nor do you need too much as it will drown. As Chrissie said, dripping a few drops directly on to the attie may well help. Do you have any drip tips? I have more or less given up on filling cartridges. You can have a problem there with them being too compacted (with the fluffy stuff - so no juice is actually seeping through), or too little, causing over-leaking/ drowning of the attie. Good luck, and keep at it. You do learn a bit more each day.

Lordy - it does take time to get your head arlund what makes the gizmos work effectively. I have been vaping for a year now, and am not at all scientific, technical, nor practical. The guys in here however are so helpful with tips and advice. I am a slow learner, but they are very patient with me - thankfully. So do keep posting your queries. As River has said, give the Clearos a try. I have just tried one today for the first time (from Jason at VapeEscape) - good price and vaping heaven so far! They have 510 fittings, so will attach to your batteries.
