Hi guys, thanks for the help over the weekend. I used juicemeup and managed to make up 30ml at 30.09mg, which i then used to make 5x10ml of juice with VG and flavour (10%) - I'm using the Hangsen flavours from Misteliquid which recommends 5-7% for DIY so maybe I've over used the flavour a bit (although I did only do 5 individual flavours rather than any fancy mixing). Anyway, my question is what now? I know I have to let the juice steep but for how long exactly? Are we talking days or weeks? And when is the best time to try out the new juice to see what it tastes like and if I need to let it steep longer? I'll be honest I got a bit impatient last night and tried some in my Evod and it was completely tasteless! The problem is, I took it upon myself to add 10ml of the 10mg PG to the remaining 40ml of our 18mg USA mix and I think I've ruined it! I had been using that as a base with the Hangsen flavours at 5% which had been ok but since I added the extra 10mg to it doesn't taste the same I know DIY can be hit and miss but I was hoping to make the USA mix last until the new juice was ready to try rather than buying in some more pre-mixed!

Thank goodness . . . I've not forgiven myself for my weekend's total brain burp moment Nfollows. Anyway, I haven't used any Hangsen flavours myself so I've no idea of their potency . . . but 5-7% is very low, there are some but not that many concentrates that are good at that dilution. This is my very general rule of thumb for concentrations and steeping times: Mint/Menthol - 5-10% no steeping needed. Fruits - 10-20% no steeping needed, although very often a couple of days improves the flavour Tobacco - 2-10+% a week steeping Hard Candy/Sweetie Flavours - 15-20% a week steeping Dessert/Chocolate/Vanilla Custard - 15-25% 2-3 weeks at least steeping. This isn't a hard and fast, it's what suits my taste buds, but it might give you some indication and a chance for me to redeem myself.

Thanks Perp!
This is what I've made up (replicating what we had been using with the USA mix as the base)
10ml Red Cherry 10ml Fizzy Cola 10ml Cherry Cola (this is a bit of an experiement so no idea how this will turn out!) 10ml Coconut 10ml RY4/Virginia (this was my wifes choice, she liked this combo when used with the USA mix base)
I've used 10% of flavour in the single flavour ones and the same in the double flavours (using 5% of each flavour).
We'd only been adding 5% of the Hangsen flavour to 10ml of the USA mix and the flavours came through so I didn't want to go any higher than 10% in case I completely trashed them all.
I've got the 0% PG coming tomorrow, so this first batch is a bit of a bonus using the 10mg PG which I got for free!
So Perps, based on the flavours I've mixed up, should they have some flavour to them by now? It was maybe 4 hours after I mixed them that I tried a couple and they tasted of nothing and I haven't been back to try them since.
I wasn't sure about the best place to steep, so many opinions! I kept them in the cupboard near the dryer first of all as I read the heat can help, they're now sat in one of the kitchen drawers.

I'd be more on 15-20% of all those flavours Nfollows to be honest . . . but I do mix at a concentration that some would find too strong. You ought to be able to taste something from them by now, if not add another 5% would be my suggestion, not having tried any Hangsen flavours.
I just pop any steeping bottles in a cupboard and give them a shake every so often during the first couple of days.

Thanks Perp, will have to see what they’re like when I get home.
They all smell good so hopefully some of the taste will be more noticeable today, if not I will stick another 5% in and see what happens!!

HS RY4 needs to be at around 20% to be any good really, it's not the strongest 'essence'

Still no real flavour last night, there was a slight hint but nothing like I was expecting.
I've added another 5% of flavour to each mix (I know this will slightly reduce nic mg but couldn't be bothered to work out what else I needed to add lol) so I will see how that works out tonight.
I'm starting to think it might also be the EVOD coils that need changing because I'm not getting a very good vape from mine today.
I've got some Kanthal and Ekowool waiting for me at home so I'll try a recoil and see if the flavour is more noticeable on the new coils.

Probably a combination of both Nfollows, hopefully more flavour should help . . . I find my Evod coils last about 7-10days then they go right off. Giving them a bicarb bath helps revive them in the short term.

I gave the juice a week of steeping, added more flavour (up to 20%), I changed the heads on the evod and guess what………..still absolutely tasteless!! I can smell the flavours but there is nothing at all coming through, not even the slightest hint of the flavours that are supposed to be there! I hate to admit it but I just gave up and ordered 5x100ml bottles from Fred at MistEliquid which arrived on Saturday and I poured my stuff down the sink so I could use the dropper bottles. As far as I know, Fred uses the Hangsen flavours to make his juice and the flavours are great on the ones we received on Saturday (cola, cherry and RY4 being 3 of them) so I’ve no idea what I did wrong – or if it was just me being impatient! Anyway, we’ve now got enough pre-made juice to last us a good few months so I am under less pressure to get some juice made and ready to vape straight away. I’m debating just putting the mixing stuff on the classifieds as I’m not sure it’s for me but the CCW flavours really do interest me. I’ve had a look at the recipe threads but see a lot of them are a mixture of different flavours from different places (f’art, ccw etc) but has anyone got some recipes that are made using just CCW flavourings? I don't want to go off an order a cupboard full of flavours but I was hoping that maybe there are 3 or 4 that I could buy that then combine in different ways to make 3 or 4 recipes? Or am I just dreaming? Thanks

Or am I just dreaming? Thanks It can and very often does end up like that Nfollows . . . as a good end result can come from combining a number of concentrates. I'd be inclined to get a couple of ' standalone ' or simple recipes under your belt, which will then give you the confidence and enthusiasm to carry on . . . maybe the flavours that you had weren't quite right for you at present? My suggestions for some flavourings would be: Capella Harvest Berries F'arts Apple Pie TPA Cinnamon Danish TPA Green Apple TPA Caramel Original The first 3 are very nice ( for me ) as standalone flavours mixed at 20%. The Apple and Caramel are also good by themselves or combined together. Don't be deterred by your first endeavours.

Let me add the "instant gratification" flavouring to that list: Capella Vanilla Custard, mixed at 15-20%.
