Now I'm probably going to get crucified for this... BUT... while I fully support anything that helps the 'deserving' causes and families that are at the centre of these types of programmes, I'm not at all comfortable with the results.
I'm not sure what their target audience is... (a) Is it a one off 'let's do something for this person(s)' in which case, fine. OR (b) You too can easily do this for a deserving cause... Oh BTW it will cost you thousands. Not fine.
Now I like Alan Titchmarsh, but I think this is a series too far... it's making us all feel guilty that we can't do what he does (with TV funding) for our own deserving causes.
Sorry if this upsets anyone.

I have mixed feelings too, although I'd rather see someone 'deserving' get a nice garden makeover than just some random bod that used to benefit from Groundforce

Tonight, regardless of the excavation, the plants, the labour etc... the Summer House was £6k... what relevance is that to the ordinary guy. ???

I don't watch much telly, so don't really know what you're talking about, but, for 6k I'd have thought they could have made a community garden for folks living in flats and still had some change

I agree with you, raffles I don't see what this sort of garden programming is all about. If it was in a OAP'S care home or a children's care home, if that sort of money was put to a good cause then I would applaud them. I would understand. But to spend that sort of cash for one person I can't agree with it

Banky... that's exactly how i feel. The subjects are totally deserving of recognition and help, but this series has gone totally over the top of what anyone, without a mega budget, could do. To me, has had the opposite effect of what it should have been.

To me, has had the opposite effect of what it should have been. To be fair . . . only the other week AT and his team made over an area of land at Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice for youngsters who have a terminal illness. A special place where their parents can go to remember them, with similarly bereaved parents. So the series hasn't solely featured a ' personal ' garden makeover. www.itv.com/alantitchmarsh/loveyourgarden/episodesix/However, I understand completely what you're saying Raffles.
