Morning all,
Has anyone come across any issues using the spinner with a clearo/carto with ohms lower than 2.0?
I’ve just come across this in the description for the spinner ‘’Low Resistance(less than 2.0 ohms) atomizers and cartomizers should not be used with eGo type batteries’’
The reason that I’m asking is that I did my first recoil last night on the EVOD head and coiled at 1.9ohms (had been using the 2.5 stock heads) and the spinner doesn’t like it!
With the EVOD screwed in properly to the spinner it wont fire, the light just flashes (which I’ve read is a safety feature on the spinner) – although it does fire up if I unscrew the EVOD to about 50%.
I’ve tried this head on both our spinners and neither of them like it but the stock heads are fine so I know its not the batts causing the problem.
The coil does fire when the head isn’t screwed in all the way so I’ve really no idea!
But I’m down to the last 2 stock heads and I’ve got 7 to re-coil ASAP so if it is the low ohms I need to know.
Thanks!

The Spinner will not fire if the current draw is too low, like you have said 2 ohms appears to be too low. You need to add another wrap of wire to bring the resistance up.
They probably work when not screwed in properly as you are making a higher resistance connection, but check the centre pin in the coil heads are fully pushed home into the rubber grommet.

So it's more wraps of wire = more resistance?

I've just tried this on my ego-c vv battery. I hav'nt an evod but my 1.5ohm dripper works fine on it and I've always used 1.5ohm 306's on it.

Do evods have 510 fittings or ego. I'm just wondering if you have a short as you say it fires when halfway on?

A short is a possibility, you really need to get a meter on it to check the resistance or put it on a device (MOD like the Vamo) to see if that's the case.

I measured the head on a multimeter last night and it was measuring at 1.9ohms.
Unless I've used the meter incorrectly and it's not giving a true reading then the head is definitely 1.9ohms.

It might be that when you screw it in to your battery that the short occurs then as the connector will move slightly when tightened down.

if you have a ego adapter you could try screwing it into that then measuring the resistance to see if anything changes.

My Spinners certainly cope fine with sub 2 ohm coils - you shouldn't have any problem with 1.8 or even a bit less. It sounds like either a connection problem or a coil problem.

My evod was doing this last week with a 1.8 head in it. If I screw it in tighter it works fine, didn't realise it was a safety feature. Only happens on one of my evods though.

What does the meter read when you touch the test leads together? if it gives a reading you have to subtract that from your coil reading to get the correct coil ohms.

Wires read 0.9. Coil reads 2.8

Ah well, it was just a thought. Another thought, are the coil wire ends sticking out at the bottom? I had one where I didn't cut them short enough and burnt out the battery pcb. Tested fine on the meter but shorted on the battery.
