Considering it nearly happened 30Kft above my head a few years ago, I've had a fascination with trans-Atlantic aviation since. It was about the peak of the war in Iraq and there was a helluva lot of American military traffic passing over my place, mixed in with the normal commercial stuff. Sunday morning, driving into town, along a loooooooong straight easterly road I saw a plane seemingly head straight for another one, head on. Nah, they'll be seperated by at least 1000ft, as they should be, I thought. Just as they got too close, the westerly one did the most humungous emergency swerve to starboard I've ever seen a plane that size do. The pilots of both were asleep I think, and the proximity alarm woke one of them up. Oddly, the other one didn't budge from his course.
