chrisjw try this method, i seem to be getting along so well with this method, all methods are good but this one seems more consistent: I set it up the same way Todd shows in his vid but used this method today and so far I think it's a bit better, although Todds way is much quicker and less fiddly

OK...re-wicked & coiled it using this method............2mm rokwool.....0.20 kanthal........3 wraps of wire.......showing 2.6ohms......vaping at 6 watts..... I'm still getting a burnt taste, but I'm now wondering if it may be the juice ( Red Wood tobacco home mix )........I'll give it a while to let it bed in.

Chris, if you're using 2mm ekowool and folding it twice you are wrapping a coil around 6mm of wick, More if you consider that ekowool seems to come up thicker than silica. That would be why you are getting higher ohms for 3 wraps. Less wick performs better in a kayfun mate, try just folding once and trimming each end so that it just reaches the base, you should get 4 wraps of .2 kanthal for around 2 ohms

Chris dont give up on the KFL mate, i just got mine and used the same method in the above video and so far i have no problems. Wicking fine on my Evic on 7.5w.
Also a quick question, i read in the KFL manual that u should half the nic content of the juice i am using? is this true or necessary?

That could explain a lot...............I only vape tobacco flavours & I mix all of them at 20%.............

Chris this is what i mean. straight from the KFL manual. "When you use Kayfun Lite for the first time, try to start from nicotine level twice less than you used to! For example, if you used 12 mg/ml liquid - start from 6 mg/ml on Kayfun Lite. Kayfun Lite has excellent nicotine delivery and vapor production capabilities, so it is easy to get nicotine overdose for want of habit. Choose optimal for you nicotine level, but we do not recommend using e-liquid with level higher than 12 mg/ml with Kayfun Lite - it can be dangerous to your health."

Ok, so I've been playing about with the setup shown in the video that Super-Shiny linked too but was getting burnt tastes no matter what wattage I tried it at.. way to much wick blocking the channels.. For now I've re-done it with the faithful single 3mm ekowool and the burnt taste has gone.. still not perfect but no burnt taste... So now I'm going to re-try the linked version in my spare KFL with 1mm ekowool to see how it fares.. I will find the right setup, just a case of how much frustration I need to go though in the mean time!

Have now gone back to basics with the KFL........2mm silica folded in an "s" shape.......0.20 kanthal with 4 coils.......it's showing 1.8 ohms..........what I have also done, is swapped the juice.....I was vaping a homemade Red Wood tobacco 24mg & it is strong.....I've now filled it with a ready mixed tobacco I was given at Vapefest & it's a lower nic strength (18mg) & it has made a difference. I'm vaping at 6.5 watts, the burnt taste has gone & I am getting flavour....so probably, my previous wick & coils were fine, it was the juice strength that was the problem........
