I'm still a newbie 28 days vaping now no "stinky"cigs and I bought a rather expensive ego w and 510 together kit from a newbie's point of view I thought the cig a like 510 would be great but it really was a pile of rubbish. The ego w kit is what stopped me from smoking.Newbie may think they want a cig a like but after trying I don't even like tobacco e juice!a reasonable ego kit and e juice would convert many smokers and cost less than 2 packs of cigs.Myself I'm just starting to read through advice on atties, batteries etc and still confused.I think a beginner's guide followed by a moving on guide with info on battery types and atties/clearos would be really useful.I have tried understanding mods etc and so far I'm confused!so a moving on up guide for vapers from newbie on would be great

It isn't so long ago that I started vaping and I remember being really confused by everything available and the terminology associated with it. I think whatever is suggested needs to come from a reliable, newbie friendly vendor based in the same country as the newcomer so if they have problems they can get them sorted out quickly. I started with the Riva kit from vape escape. What I liked about it was that it gave me a chance to experiment with both clearomisers and cartomisers to see which I liked best. Later I bought something else from vape escape which I had a problem with and it was sorted out very swiftly and professionally. Therefore, due to my experience, I tend to recommend them to newbies. It has nothing to do with brand loyalty, just confidence that they are in good hands. Later, once they are over the initial hurdle of that first kit I'm more likely to point them in the direction of bargains such as FastTech etc. I think the big problem of recommending the same thing to all newbies is that people are not the same and even have different smoking styles. I very quickly out grew the Riva kit. My OH is still very happy with it. It would have probably been more cost effective for me to go straight to an Evic with a reliable tank such as a Protank maybe. OH would have been happier beginning with pre-filled cartos with his Riva kit so he didn't have to mess with refilling. Taste is not that important to him. I can see his point as cigarettes are easy to use. Pull one out of the pack and you are good to go. He has accepted clearos now but I fill them for him. I think all one can do is to recommend reliable vendors and a range of tried and tested equipment that don't need to be modified to work well. Maybe having a list of questions a new user can reply to would help in matching the equipment to them and their circumstances better. What a 10 per day or occasional smoker would be better with would not necessarily be what a 40-60 per day smoker would be better with. Also someone who has more of an interest in gadgets would be happier with certain devices than others. Just some random thoughts but I hope it helps.

I can't see this working as there are just too many options and opinions to arrive at a consensus. It would be just the same as trying to recommend a 'moving on' set up to more experienced vapers .... just look at the many different options to say nothing of the many different opinions eg: carto vs clearo vs direct dripping vs genesis etc, vamo vs svd vs provari ............. you get the picture! If we more experienced vapers can't even reach a consensus on what is best for us, how will we reach a consensus on what is best for newbies? EDIT: I'm not complaining......everyone is entitled to their own opinion in a free society.......use the option while you still have it, it won't be long before THEY take it away! I think that the way we do it currently is fine .... it lets everyone offer their opinion and leaves it up to the individual newbie to assess these options and make up their own mind ..... if they are seriously considering packing in the smokes and taking to ecigs (the fact that they have joined AAEC would indicate that they are) then a bit of Googling and assessing the possibilities is no biggy.

Hi all, just a thought as I browse through the forum. At least on here the newer members to vaping are given a sensible guide into the world of E cigs. In this forum, the new and old are catered for with respect and patience with no trace of malhumour. it seems to me that the individual's taste is respected and there is no demand that they must follow the Cloud Chasers or they are considered not worthy of using the title of Vapers.
Speaking for myself, I came into the vaping community as an alternative to smoking ( being closer to the coffin than the cradle) However I do still enjoy moderated tobacco flavouring (when mixed with other tastes.)In respect for all others who wish to follow in the path of vaping I say lets help them in any way we can. Massive Kudos to both Giles and Bigjim for their sterling efforts.

Just another thought..... a lot of emphasis is put on which gear to start off with, but maybe some consideration ought to be given to the technique of vaping and advice to new vapers on this. Again, there's personal choice involved, but we all know ('coz we've probably all been there )that you can't just drag an e-cig like a stinky, and if you try and inhale too fast you'll cough your guts up !!!
