Had to take my 9 year old to A&E tonight after an accident involving the DVD remote and the sofa, got her knee glued and some paper stitches. God, they are a worry aren't they? I don't know how people cope when their kids are REALLY sick. (But on the positive side, she's fine and I don't need a cigarette!)

Glad to hear your daughter is OK... I remember when my kids were young (about a century ago), and I would do anything to transfer the pain to me. Don't assume it gets any easier... once they get out into the world you'll be on hooks all the time. That's the price you pay I'm afraid for all the joy they bring you.

PS... You weren't fighting over the remote were you?

She's fine thanks. Luckily only our second visit, first time was a squished thumb at nursery. I held it together very well, but am getting emotional now (after a bottle of wine)

I dropped my daughter on her head when she was a baby, the longest night
Of my life followed. She got her university place confirmed the other day
And is working out what is needed to leave home in a couple of weeks, eeeeek!

You are obviously a BAD dad mark! My poor daughter was really upset because she'd had a great day, star pupil at school- v proud mum, and the promise of being sixer at brownies (her best friend wasn't going) but instead she was in a&e. not much you can say to console her really ...

Me and the OH were only discussing yesterday an incident that happened when my eldest daughter was about 2 (she's 25 now). I had been working away from home and arrived back on Friday evening to find the house empty and sprayed with blood. No mobiles back then. No way to find out where they were or what happened. Fortunately they arrived back from a&e within a few minutes. DD had climbed up in the bathroom and grabbed my razor. It cut into her thumb and mrs couldn't stop the bleeding, so just rushed her off to the hossie.
These things are the worst moments, and I'm so glad she's ok lal
