hey, am new and want to rebuild the coils in an joytech clearomizer...ive pulled out the coils and have a basic knowledge of how they are constructed....the factory coils work well for about 3 days and then begin to get a burning taste am using a 1100 battery ......my question is the size of the coil wire and the wick component.....some say fiberglass wicks some say silica wicks....kanthalchrome wire seems to be the wire of choice but im confused about ohms and resistance and quite frankly its difficult to get that technical due to my lack of understanding about such things......if some one will be kind enough to get me started in the right direction so i may develop some sophistication about being able to do this myself.........after 53 yrs of smoking havent had a tobacco cig in almost a year........ what a difference in health thank you all for your help and support...... dennis

mike there are three things that come to mind .......first your independently wealthy , but , then what are you doing shilling for vaping companies...... two your either not a smoker or dont smoke very much........ the cost of your being a lazy so and so goes back to number one.......three you never addressed the questions asked...... you just offered a different direction, which also goes back to being a shill for vaping companies......... this i offer with all sincerity and respect "LEAD.....FOLLOW.....OR GET OUT OF THE WAY"

It's common practice on our forum to post links to any number of companies, it doesn't mean any of us are shilling. I don't believe we are the forum for you, so I'm saying goodbye to you now.

I am new to coiling/wicking melitahams but so far I have been using 2mm silica and 0.2mm Kanthal wire (I think this is also referred to as 32 gauge). I have heard that ecowool is better but more expensive than silica.

I have been using 0.2mm Kanthal amd 2mm Ekowool of late. I prefer Ekowool to the 'standard' silica - but you're right it is more expensive.

I watched a video recently where the guy used ecowool and it seemed to be less prone to fraying than silica. I think I will order some for my next igo-l recoil.

Until now,I have kept my counsel, so I've decided to reply to his 'post'. First - I'm not independently wealthy. 20p per pre-made wick, Is this the sign of a rich person?? (For his information, I worked in the NHS for 32 years, before being made redundant, so now I am unemployed) Two, Is 20 cigarettes a day - not a heavy smoker??? I used to use 1100 battery, but I switched to a Vamo, & it enhanced my vaping experience by 200%,so I thought it would help him, Oh well!! - can't please everybody. In closing, 'dennis' has assumed many incorrect assumptions - However ASSUME is a dangerous word - it can make an 'ASS' out of 'U' and 'ME' Actually, I wanted to know more about Kanthal & Ekowool before 'dennis's' rant Anyway, back to the thread .............. Cheers Mike
