probs with davide glassomiser

I must be using the wrong wire or something for this thing ...currently using kanthal D 0.2mm 30awg and if I'm lucky it doesn't short (on 5 coils) - if I'm unlucky it comes up with a ridiculously low ohms reading on the vamo v1...

Either way I soak it for 5 mins (as per instruction- using ekowool by the way that doesn't need boiling) and it has a burnt taste after a few puffs

Been battling with this since Monday and getting desperate

What size Ekowool are you using?

I think it's 3mm though could be 2mm - had it ages...

Tried your dry burning technique just now and it did help though probs not completely fixed

2mm works great.........I tried 3mm Ekowool and it's too tight for my liking and it strangles the juice getting in.

Forgot to ask what Ohms reading was it when you tried it and got a burnt taste?

What power are you vaping at? If the resistance is low I drop the power down.

1.3 ohms or sometimes even up to 2ohms or higher

Next question - cheapest place for 2mm ekowool (sure mine is 3mm now I think about it)

Just normal mechanical mod (don't like vv's/vw's) - 4.2v and lower

You know, I never got my evods and minis going with ekowool. Basically, I couldn't get the darn stuff to wick even half decent. I tried thick and thin and loose/tight coils. It drove me mad.

In the end, in frustration, I took some old and rather cheap-looking free 2.5mm silica and wrapped one up in 2 minutes and vaped away immediately with no trouble at all. Been doing that now for 2 months or so.

Never really got to the bottom of it.

If I vaped my protank with a 1.3 ohm head at 4.2v it would taste burnt on my first drag. On this one I have just re built it has a 1.6ohm head and I vape it at 5.5 - 6w max which is around 3v.

thanks....have some 1mm or 2mm silica on right now and just ordered some 2.5mm....what wire were you using?

Sorted Don't know what width my silica is and just had some flooding issues (maybe cos the wick is too thin?) but they're easy sorted with a few dry burns

Ordered the 2.5mm silica wick from the mesh company as recommended

Why didn't I ask for your wonderful help sooner? LOL..I only rewicked it tonight cos I was stressed out (best distraction known to woman from stress or anything...fixing a BCC head or any e-cig prob for that matter LOL)

I have 3 lots of wire. One from cloud 9, one from ecigwizard and one from Vape-Space.

In a process (over 9 months or more) I have discovered no issue with any wire of any type. I often thought it was the wire on the iGo-L that was causing the problems, but it wasn't. I was the silica.

My first ever length of silica tasted terrible...
My ekowool (2 thicknesses) always had a great taste but didn't wick in "tight" spaces (so it works in an octopus or iGo, but not an evod)
The 2.5mm silica (Vape-Space) works in everything. RDAs, Novas, Evods, Protanks.

I need some more soon too.
