So who can suggest a really good efficient electric heater / fire , the option is only electric no other form of heater /fire , am sure some of you have / had experiences with such things and can offer some good advice of what to and not to, so fire away.

Do Dyson not do one of those fanless jobbies?
If they do, I'd imagine you'd struggle to find something more efficient.

It certainly feels like we're getting to that time of year mybadIf it's just me that's in and I'm feeling a bit chilly I use a small halogen heater, not sure how economical it is though

Personally we would go for an Oil Filled Radiator.
Fan heaters are noisy, Halogen heaters are too bright, Convection heaters tend to be not as portable.
The Oil Filled radiator just sits in the background and is thermostatically controlled. They are also easy to wheel about. We have different sized ones for the shed, the caravan and the house.

I'm not sure Karma, but they have to be cheaper than a conventional electric fire.
We basically got onto them because of the caravan. They are safe to leave on 24/7 and ofcourse they make no noise when we are sleeping at night. They are also safer because we have the two dogs yet when they are on full belt you cannot touch them. They heat up the van no problem and unlike wall radiators, you are getting heat from both sides.
On the down side, although you can lift them, they are heavy hence the fact that they are on Castors.

Nice little link there Pam O , Thank you , so they all cost the same to run and its just a matter of choice of how the heat is dispersed which I suppose all have pros and cons, and the choice of power output.

Yup all in and around the same ball park really except the panel heaters, but they are like tube heaters, cheap as chips to run but only background heat, I have one in my grooming shed which only just takes the chill off the air in there in the winter.

I am going for an igenix from amazon next pay day... You have the choice of various models (think I"m going to pay about £40 for mine) and halogen Support worker had one of these last year and kept her nice and toastie in the office... and also a thermal oneside from Primark
