Just seen dear little Ronnie Corbett on a TV ad, and it made me think back so many years to the 'Frost Report'. Ronnie Barker, gone too soon, David Frost, gone only yesterday, and John Cleese, in one hell of a financial mess over his divorce. Even with fame, money etc. can anyone have a full life of true happiness? It's taught me, over the years, not to be envious of anybody... they all have their own problems. Just try and be happy and be good to others while you're here.

I very much doubt john cleese would find himself in a financial mess considering he is financial expert.

See in principle I would like to agree with this, on the flip side I am very ANTI-government/corporate/establishment etc as the model of life today has been specifically designed to enslave people to a life time of debt and relying on "big entities" (IE: Handouts, health, education etc etc)so no wounder the majority have problems when a small percent financially benefit from others misfortune (Syria is a good example! Look at the MPs (and congress) foaming at the mouth with glee to go to war and make some more money for their lobbyist weapons suppliers, yes I know we stopped it but some still had the audacity to vote YES!) Basically in a nutshell (call me miserable) but the world has gone down the pan morally and only looks after 1% who have the £$£.... which in reality sickens me as who on this earth has a right to dictate that we are automatically enlisted into their modern day slave system? Oh wait the governments and their chums. Parasitic cancerous (Insert word of choice here ) Oooosh I could go on a long political anti establishment rant. Vive la revolution

jakethevape... not sure where that came from with my simple observation... but I do have sympathy with your view... I don't like the current state of the world either.

Don't know who said it many years ago, but 'Money cannot buy happiness'

Don't know who said it many years ago, but 'Money cannot buy happiness' Iv'e heard it said numerous times , rather be unhappy with 2 mil in the bank than unhappy with sweet F/A , as for myself I don't care if the neighbour has a rolls and a swimming pool and all the rest.

Then just be happy regardless (if you can)... I know that is probably a stupid assumption in some people's circumstances... but if we knew the answer, we wouldn't be debating this.

My motto for life is, fill your life with love and you will be rich for life but fill your life with riches and you will be loveless for life.
Basically it means, if all you strive for in life is richness and or fame, you may get it but it will change you and you will have lost a lot of friends on the way to your goal. If you simply focus on your family and friends, you might not be able to go buy a new car when you want to or go on holiday when you want to but, your life will always have people who love you and are there through thick and thin.
I don't need money to be happy but I know exactly how much I would need to 'sort' my life out in a way which would not make me rich, but would improve things like... been debt free, owning a car, owning my own house and owning my own business.

Personally, one of the richest prizes in life is being stress free , luckily I have managed to maintain this over the last ten yrs.

Stress is a killer... whether it's love, life or money... it eats away at you until you cannot think straight. I guess most of us have suffered at some time, to varying degrees. If you are stress free, you are lucky, the rest means nothing.

I couldn't agree more Raffles ..... as someone posted in the recent thread about some footballer(?) earning £30k a day words to the effect "but he will never know the joy of finding a bargain on the fasttech site". I made me laugh but it is so true. Be content that you have health / family /friends etc and stop chasing the dollar and worrying about things you have no control over.

The main things in life are good health, and good friends ( family, partners etc ). It doesn't matter how much money you have if you are ill, you can not enjoy it. I was asked what I would like for xmas last year, I replied no-one can give me it. My answer was a week, just a week of been pain and illness free. Why, because I can no longer remember what it feels like to be fit and healthy.
