<<< I would either drive to scotland keeping off the main roads, even cutting over fields if need be. >>>
If you wait until after 18th Sept 2014, Scotland will be independent then and safe from Zombies as they will not be issued with passports or even visitor visas. However, do apply for your Zombie Sanctuary Visa early as we are expecting long queues at Gretna.

Ha ha. I'm not actually from Arbroath, but yeah, get your point.
I am not sure we can afford independance though. Salmonds argument about building a Norwegian like Oil Fund is a joke, it can't be done since our industry here is privatised, and over in Norway it's partly state run. 35 years ago it could have been done, now it's too late. We could maybe survive on Tourism and Whiskey, but I doubt it. There are too many scrounging scumbags, and dole monkeys here, and not enough tax payers. I mean, how would we even be able to keep up on the miles and miles of roads in Scotland?
Alex Salmond is only in it for one thing. Himself. Rob Roy, William Wallace, Alex Salmond. That's what he wants. Then he can leg it to Spain and live in a villa beside his pal Sean Connery.
I don't trust him as far as I could throw him.
Having said that, I am proud to be Scottish. Very much so. But having travelled quite extensivley through work, we aren't a particularly famous nation. Almost unheard of. For example, in China, I had to almost admit I was English just so they knew roughly where I came from. I didn't like doing it, but otherwise they just didn't have a clue. So we would need to increase our world presence. I suspect a LOT of our more international tourism comes of the back of people coming to see Buckingham Palace (certainly EVERY single one of our Chinese customers went to London to see this, as that's the thing to see while in the UK if your from China, not the Scottish Highlands).
Of course, I have selfish reasons too. I need EU citizenship for my work, to make it easier to go to different countries to work. I like having a British passport, because it says in it "the Queen says I can go anywhere, so let me through" (basically). As I travel a lot, I like the idea that there is a British consulate everywhere I go incase I get in trouble. I can imagine it being a right clusterf*ck for me for the first few years of Independance with respect to all this.
Also, I don't want the Euro as my currency. And despite what the SNP say, it's a requirement for entry into the EU. A.S. can't just change the rules as he wants, there are 27 other states that have a say in the rules. He is an arrogant pr*ck.
Phew. I need a vape now. But I can't, so will have to go for a smoke instead. Booooooo.

Having lived in a country for a while that was, at that time, governed by a Nationalist Government, I could see the advantages and disadvantages of that type of government. I have also seen that country go considerably downhill since they were ousted.
Also looking at the changes I have seen both here and in the attitude that Westminster has towards Scotland since the SNP swept to power, all I see are advantages.
What I cannot see working harmoniously is the idea that I go out to work and at the end of each month, handing my wage packet to my next door neighbour and then waiting for him to get around to handing me "my allowance" for the forthcoming month, with a little bit extra for a few luxuries. He then keeping a considerable portion back for any expenses that I might incur. Yet isn't that exactly what Westminster does to Wales, NI and Scotland????
Come on. We are big boys now and quite capable of running our own affairs.
As for Alex Salmond. He is just a figurehead and he wouldn't be in the position he is in if 70% of the Scottish People hadn't put him there.

We get back more from Westminster than we put in, so I don't see how that little story works.
Yeah, A.S. was voted into the position he is in, but I doubt it was mainly due to his want to be a historical figure.
But he knows he wouldn't win the vote fair and square, which is why he is letting 16 and 17 year olds vote too. Because they are more likely to vote for patriotism than facts.
Now I'm not saying we wouldn't manage on our own, as I'm sure we would. I am equally as sure we would do better staying part of the UK.
This is off-topic though, so perhaps a discussion worthy of its own thread?

<<<This is off-topic though, so perhaps a discussion worthy of its own thread? >>> Och I think there will be plenty of discussions "on this thread" between now and next Sept, but perhaps we should keep these on a more jocular level on here. Maybe build Hadrian's Wall a bit higher and set up a Passport Control at Gretna. Keep the Zombies down where they belong!!!!
