Can't get this bloody coiling thing right

Got some cotton wool, some silica wick and some .3 kanthal to recoil my protank heads and I can't seem to get above 1 ohm without the coil being about half a mile long with 20 million wraps! Any help would be much appreciated.

Its because its .3 kanthal mate, .2 is best for protanks.

I am in the same boat as you feller.

I was like WOW rebuild, BOOM take ma MONEYSSSS, and then it arrived and after a little DIY/Bodging whilst youtubing video tips I decided it was way WAY WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY to much effort.

Lol I didn't realise there was such a big difference between .2 and .3 resistances Looks like I'll get some .2 and try again

I would def say .2 kanthol. It is what i use to coil my nova heads and my v3 heads and theyvare the same size as a protank head roughly. 5 wraps usually gets me around the 1.8ohm area.
Edit: using 3mm silica.

Aha!! So Mr Dolly isn't the only person having problems. I shall show him this tonight. He was just using some random wick stuff that came with a raffle prize! he doesn't even know what it is.

That is a lot of work for very little return. No way i would to sit there of an evening making 500 odd coils. Mental lol. Now if you had a machine that did it

Yeah I got mine that I ordered on like Monday today (from poland) off ebay www.ebay.co.uk/sch/buymywire/m.html

He did at one time have a proper website but I can't find it anymore

anything from 2.5mm silica or 3mm silica (can't figure out what's best) for protanks but deffo silica and not ekowool (mega disaster in my case )

Small pin is also needed to act as a stabilizing template (should be on some youtube videos)

Then practice....tis the only way

Keep at it, get some .2 or .15 wire and keep trying. Just remember all the failed attempts means you will have had lots of practice at winding so you are almost there with the perfect coil.
banging your head on a brick wall may help, but I do not recommend it. Better to go and relax , then give it another go having thought about it. Then walla.. a satisfying vape.

TBH mate it is used to get the resistance down for micro coils so you can get 8 - 10 wraps to have a larger surface area covering the wick. It would work well in a dripper with a coil wrapped around a screw
