Hi all - I'm new to vaping, so new that I haven't tried it yet. However I have a starter kit on the way and I'm hoping this is the answer to giving up the analogues, stop stinking and not be banished outside throughout the winter months. 

A bit about me - I'm in my mid-30s and I've been smoking for the past 18 years. I currently smoke rollies, Drum Gold tobacco with filter tips, about 12 -14 a day. My wife doesn't smoke, nor do my friends, so the smoking is a hangover from earlier days when my social groups all had a fag in a break, and you could smoke in the pubs. I'm glad those days are past but I've not managed to kick the habit - I've given up twice before, both for 9 months, before going back to it. 

I've ordered the following kit from one of the vendors on here:
2 x eGo 1100mAh Batteries in stainless steel
2 x CE4+ Long Wick Clearomizers 
1 x Charger
Plus a case and a needle bottle. 
I've ordered some tobacco flavoured juice at 6mg, and have some fruit flavoured testers from the Alchemists something-or-other at 18mg. 

So here come the questions!
is there anything else I need?
is 6mg going to be strong enough to replace my current habit? Is 18mg going to blow my head off?
am I going to look silly vaping in public? I've never seen anyone do it before! (I know this is subjective, just curious how you handle the inevitable questions)

I'll feedback my first experiences when the gear arrives - hopefully tomorrow, but it may be Wednesday. 

I've found this forum really useful - huge thanks to the community for providing such a useful resource in a sea of internet adverts when googling on the subject of e cigs. I've been particularly interested in the new members experiences and hope my story will prove useful to others, especially as it's unwritten as yet!

Sounds like you have ordered everything you need to get up & running BTW, there is no problem to linking to the website you have bought from, no matter who they are

I'd say the 6mg will be too low for you & the 18mg about right to begin with.

And no, you aren't going to look at all silly - out of interest, where abouts are you as I'm sure there is a good chance there will be other members not too far away from you

instead of the CE4s try the evods that I and many others think are fantastic

Welcome ionian, I was exactly where you are about 8 months ago, maybe a little more and the stinkies are long gone! I gave up a couple of times before I tried vaping and failed after a while. I have never looked back since vaping, I have absolutely no desire to smell like an ashtray again, ever! I feel so much more healthy and I really enjoy my new 'habit'! Good luck to you, it sounds like you have everything you need to get started, I'd second what Chrissie said, 6mg might be a bit low, but for me, it was no time at all before I got down to 6 mg so I am sure it will come in handy soon.

And lastly, never hesitate to ask for advice or help, there are no daft questions on this forum, just loads of really lovely and helpful people who will help you all the way.

I'd also agree with 6mg being rather on the low side to get going with. You could always order the same flavour in a higher strength and combine the two together if you really find it doesn't keep the cravings at bay.

Your kit is very similar to what I started with and have NEVER looked back. Agree that 6mg may be on the low side, I use 12/18mg and do not find much difference.

With regard to 'looking silly' it's all in your mind. Whenever I've been approached for flashing my 'kit' about, it's always curiousity and 'do they work' questions. It's great to be able say YES, absolutely. You've saved someones life.

The evods - will they fit on the battery I have? Does anyone have a good link at a good price? Maybe I should I wait and try with the CE4s before spending any more money - are they much better and worth the purchase now?

There are cheaper but that's not a bad price you paid for the kit.

I love the Joose-Juice e-liquids, but TBH I have to say that neither of their tobacco flavours are similar to Drum. Mybe have a look at Paradise Vapes tobacco flavours -

Thanks Chrissie - I've ordered golden virginia and Amber leaf from the link you gave me. The blue drum is too bitter for me. Let's see how we get on with that lot. I hope I like vaping, I've spent a fair bit on if so far

I'll keep an eye on the meets and would be happy to pop along if I'm free, especially as I'll be the only vaperer I know!

Is there an easy way to tell what ohm rating the batteries that I've ordered are? I can contact the seller, just curious if anyone could tell me by looking at the link above.

I also really hope you like vaping I also hope you wont be disappointed with the tobacco flavours you have ordered, just bear in mind that it's almost impossible to replicate the taste of burning tobacco.

The batteries you have ordered are 1100mAh & will no doubt be about 3.8v. The ohm rating will be connected to the coils/heads on the clearomisers & standard that comes with most kits are usually about 2.4 ohm.

ionian and congratulations on the first step! as chykensa said the advice given is cracking and I can't add to it (although EVOD's are amazing IMO!) but I will say that I have been Cig free for a few days now and it's a brilliant feeling, not stinking is the best thing so far. It makes me feel ill when someone walks in that has had a Cig I can really smell it now and it's awful to think I smelt like that eeeeww! I'm not going to lie I could still happily light up but I know I don't need to. I really hope you enjoy your set-up as that's the main issue, finding something that suits and keeps you away from Cigs! keep us posted we are standing by with advice and support
