So pro tanks are now drying after a good wash, just looking at the heads and trying to decide the best way to re wick them. I don't have 2mm ekowool yet, on its way as we speak. So i was thinking 2mm silica for now on 2 of them and keep 2 standard to do a comparison, do people use flavour wicks on these? Will be using 60pg 40vg juice. Once the blow torch arrives it is time to try a micro coil in in.

Yes - it's not so much a 'flavour wick' as a 'stop it leaking wick'.

Hi Roscopecotrain. I belive the protank two heads are the same as the mk1, if so I double over the silica and wrap it about 4-5 turns gives you 1.9-2.1 ohms. The doubling over also removes the need for the flavour wick. And as for micro coils, I use a lighter to heat it up don't have a fan dangled blow torch thingy! I'm sure you'll be fine which ever way you go

I think it's fair to say Super-Shiny is the main man on these heads, how many was it again? :-P I love the way we all have our own preferences for coiling the same head. Re the flavour wicks, I just used to hate fidling with them, hence the double over idea. Have to say been using my micro coil and cotton wool now for 2 weeks, changed the cotton Thursday and dry burned the coil, so nice not to have recoil the whole thing. Think I used a bit too much cotton first time as the draw is better now. It all a learning journey :-D

I love the way we all have our own preferences for coiling the same head. Agreed there is many ways to do them, i do mine all different ways depending on juice ratio, some 2mm some with flavor beds, some microcoil etc etc. If a member ask what is best i always give them what i feel is the safest way even though there is many different ways

Ok so i have re coiled one head to Super-Shiny requirements, have that in one protank and a normal head in the other, orange and mango juice in both. and my re coil one has stacks more flavour than the standard one. Looking forward to trying ekowool in one and a micro coil.

So How would you rate a recoiled head over a standard new head % wise . the other reason I am taking interest in this is because I find the wick in a new head can give off a nasty taste at first until it beds in and plus the fact of the mentioned more flavor and also am useless at recoiling due to the eyes not being as good as they used to be, hence if some kind person would at some stage offer to recoil a few for me.
