svd or evic Evic, hands down!!! Shows battery life left in percentage (svd shows by 3 colour led in power button) Power incremented in 0.1w steps as opposed to svd's 0.5w increments Shows atomiser resistance each and every time you power it up or swap atty (have to go into svd menu for atty resistance) Not as heavy as you may think Can be as simple or technical as you like( you don't have to use pc for it to work!) Easily customisable with tubes etc Basically futureproof with software updates One of the best regulated mods about!

Hi guys, I can't decide what to get, any arguments for or against either would really help! Thank you Just throwing this out there g3mma as everybody who has one loves them a lot. Same size as the evic. May even be a touch smaller and comes in various colours. Blownupdolly loves hers. And it is on sale here www.ukecigcabin.com/product/smoktech-sid-vv-mod-battery great price. Also all the evic tubes and after market evic tubes fit it i think. Sent from my Galaxy Note 2 And there I was happy with my silver one and up pops a purple version arghhhhhh!! I can't afford it but I just know I will get one as long as Jen doesn't buy up all the purples! Yes,I do love my SID. It is simple and just works every time. I don't need to get as techie as others. I don't care about being able to fiddle with everything and read software etc. all I want is something to stick my protank on and works every time. The extra thirty odd quid that it costs for an Evic would really be a waste of my money.

I don't think comparing an Evic or SVD to a spinner is what the OP originally asked. The software is easy to use, updates in a few seconds, and writing from the software to the Evic is something a child could do, again in seconds. I have two, and they cause no problems whatsoever. On any battery over tightening any Carto/Tank/Clearo can push down the centre pin. Even on a Spinner. As to your original question, both devices are superb. Only the weight of the SVD might be an issue. I use both, regularly, I have had no problems and I wouldn't part with either. Jag. (Sometimes a good thing is a good thing ....) Well, fair point re OP, but in my personal experience (which, like a lot of folks', begins with Ego, Spinner or Twist types), it ain't in the least bit elegant in and of itself. It is indeed more elegant than a Vamo or similar, however. But then no mod that takes an 18650 is going to be elegant, really, they're big batteries. No, the firmware issue is not a big one, but the electronics one is IMO - mine doesn't detect ohms properly leading to burning (at least, that is what I think is happening, I don't have an engineering degree). If it was one atty, I'd say it was the atty's fault as ohms can vary, but it is consistently telling me that 1.8 ohm Evods are 2.2 ohms, 2.2 ohms are 3.1 ohms and so on. Unscrew it, re-screw it, and it comes up with a different arbitrary figure. Any atty that won't work on my Evic works on everything else I own. I don't think I overtighten in general, otherwise it'd happen on everything else. So you could conclude that either I'm abusing my Evic for some reason, or it's especially sensitive to centre pins, or the o-ring support is indeed rubbish, or I have a duff one. I'm not in the habit of abusing £70(ish) items, especially when they're the most expensive bit of vaping kit I own. If you can do it without trying, doesn't that make it unfit for purpose? That combined with the ohmage issue - I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone who likes simple, easy vaping. I just want to stick an Evod on it and vape, and it frequently (but not always) won't let me do it. I've become so frustrated with the thing, I often just revert back to my cheapo Spinners, which are not as good but are vastly more reliable. An Evic is not worth the risk or investment in my own personal experience, but like I say, when it works it's great. It produces improved vapour and TH over a Spinner, and if you want to get all techy, you can. Depends what you want to get out of it. For me, as soon as I find something I can afford that is better, it'll be consigned to occasional use. Perhaps you do indeed have a "Duff" one. I just checked my two with three evods, two T3S's and a couple of Vision V3's. The readings were fine. Did the same on a Vamo SS VE and that gave the same readings. Checked them all on my two Smoktech Sids and they read the Evod's 0.1 higher than they should have been. The slightly spurious reading didn't effect them in use though. Perhaps you could get in contact with the Vendor who sold you the Evic, or failing that the Manufacturer themselves? You do seem to have problems, and those problems do sound as though they may stem from a faulty unit. Jag. (Hates anything faulty. )

It was a present, but I think OH got it from Vaperus. Just having a nose, looks like I'd get to pay for two lots of shipping to Ireland, even if it is faulty

I've always thought that if you return a unit because it is faulty that you shouldn't have to pay the postage. If an item is faulty why should the purchaser carry the costs? Oh well ..... such is life. Jag. (When is a guarantee not a guarantee .......)

Mind you, I can't find a warranty declaration on their site at all...have contacted them anyway.
