Hi guys,
I've got a Sony mains USB charger kicking around at home - it's a 5v (500mA) output, model AC-U50A. As I'd rather not create my own personal firework display I thought I'd ask you far more knowledgeable peeps if it's safe to use for charging the 2 1100mAh batts that came with the Riva kit??

ghenjeinot a problem, I'm using a non market mains interface no probs. Just remember never to leave the batts charging unattended initialy. The voltage is fine and the current just about OK, may take a little longer on charge..not much, so don't panic. If this is the first charge, leave at least 8 hours..it extends batt life supposedly.

Great, thanks for the info charon. My batts had their first charge overnight saturday and I've not had to swap to the spare yet - must be a record or something going by how long most people say they last ! (or I'm really not vaping enough lol!) As I don't have access to good USB connection at the OH's I'll need to use a mains charger - no point buying one what I've got will work

ghenjei - DO NOT LEAVE YOUR BATTERIES CHARGING UNATTENDED OVERNIGHT!No need to run them down completely. Charge one, then use it until you can safely charge it up, then swap to the other. Use till you can safely charge, then swap again........... You'll find that by not running them out, you can charge them up quite quickly, while watching tv on an evening, with far less fear that you'll go up in flames while you sleep. I might sound melodramatic, but this can and does happen, unfortunately.
EDIT- cross posts with ghenjei, but I'll leave it anyway

ghenjeiRiva batts are well known for their longevity..if your only a light vaper should see you through OK. But if you ever start recoiling/rewicking you will notice the resistance of your atty will dictate the length of charge.. of course by that time no doubt you will have fallen vistim to Shineyitus and got yourself a number of mods. BTW, Sorry about poor posting previously: fred

Please please do not leave batteries charging overnight.
Have you seen and verified the electronic and chemical testing that's been performed on your batteries and on the charger? Do you trust it?
(Even if there is a certificate, it is a forgery? Is the company that stamped it a sham? Did your manufacturer submit the same equipment for testing that they mass produce?)

Would be interesting to see if Sony would produce the relevant certification if challenged.

Thanks - advice understood - NO charging overnight Thanks for clarifying, I won't be doing it again! I'll have to chalk that up to newbieness and wanting one of them ready for the morning. I think it would help if the instructions supplied with the kit had some info on charging etc, but still it's my bad for not reading up enough.

ghenjeiWhy not have a word with the vendor if it was a B&M site, you just might save someone making the same mistake.
