How do you get out of Facebook?

I reluctantly agred to join a little while ago... for personal reasons... but I hate it! How the he** do I delete my details and close my account?

Just go in to account settings & click on delete account Raffles

I lasted 30 minutes before I was shouting on my teenage son to 'get me out'

How do you get to 'Account Settings'? This is the most evil site I've been on... no way to get to the obvious settings you will need!

Are you on a laptop or tablet? with a tablet there are 4/5 small lines in top left corner, touch that & it opens all left side, go to the bottom of the list on account settings & touch then general settings & at the bottom of the list it says
Deactivate, touch that & your account will be deleted.
On a laptop or desktop if i remember right theres a drop down menu in top right corner then follow same instructions of deleting account with a tablet.

Thanks Di, I'm on a laptop, and nothing leads me to anything I want to do.

I was always wary of this site, but thought I'd give them benefit of the doubt... but after tonight's news (about suspect videos) I wanted to disassociate from it... but they are making it impossible.  Luckily there is no personal info on there and never will be!

To all you vendors that have Facebook competions... I suggest you have another think!

Hate the place, there is a reason why i don't want to keep in contact with old friends, if i did wanna keep in contact i would phone them or something along them lines

WhooHoo... finally found the link... and (hopefully) have de-activated my account... together with a message about 'why'... probably fallen on deaf ears. But at least it may have stopped the 'Do You Know'... 'Wahin Junossposer' ... err, um, no... just GO AWAY!!!

You'll notice that they've only deactivated your account, not deleted it. Fortunately as you say Raffles, you haven't put any personal details there.

I love it. I spent a long time in South Africa and New Zealand, and my friends are all over the world. Facebook lets me keep up with them.
I also ride mountain bikes, and have a page for organising local rides with friends, but also meet lots of new people who want to be shown local trails etc.
Really useful.
You don't have to post pictures of your kitten. or play stupid games.
Tools are what you use them for.

What you seem to be taking offence to is the Internet, not the ability to post links on Facebook.

Facebook aren't making the beheading videos.

They're not posting them.

You surely wouldn't make friends with people who post such videos any more than you'd seek out the Websites that have them on.

And Facebook (despite what the idiot Cameron tweeted this morning), will put a warning on them so you can't accidentally watch them.

You're probably right Barry... I was in a bad mood last night. It is the people that use FB that cause the trouble, and I realise they cannot moderate such a huge site in the same way our Mods here do. It's just most of the sad stories of bullying, suicides, etc. seem to have a FB connection, and I feel they must do more to monitor it, rather than just chase the advertising money. I will not be going back, but I do accept your position.

but you can block those posts so you do not receive them,most are sent for you to see by friends,never had a problem,have written on mine add me as a friend fine add me to play stupid fb games you get deleted,removed a few so far lol will add though find mobile fb a pain riddled with ads and game scores etc,but not on PC


plus raffles you could set it that you only receive anything from firends only not from friends of friends in your list ,oh and as said its not deleted you just reactivate it with user pw
