Hi
Have been off the cig for about four month, alot down the help and encouragement I received here. But have recently started coughing up mucus with blackish brown flecks in it. Does anyone know if this is normal? I guess its body getting rid of the tar in my lungs? But if someone could confirm this or has any info on it'd be much appreciated
Cheers tone

It probably is just your body cleaning out all the toxins from smoking but nobody on the forum can say for sure. Probably best seeing your GP

I've not experienced this - and I've not heard of it from other vapers. 4 months seems a long while after giving up for your body to be expelling stuff, but it's possible I guess.
An obvious suggestion (sorry!), but go to the doctors - you could have a chest or sinus infection.

Coughing up mucus is a sign your lungs are repairing themselves, brown/black flecks in it are quite normal, it's literally crap from smoking being expelled. You can always pop to your GP if it's concerning you though

Have a bit of a cold at the mo anyway, so coughing maybe due to that but have never notice the fleck before. Am seeing the doctor on Monday for something esle so will ask him just wondered if anyone else had experienced this?

I've experienced it, as have others, but I never heard of it happening as late as 4 months. Maybe it is just your cold is stirring something up, but well worth talking to the doc.

ynotmost deffo seek medical advice, 4 months is plenty of time for your lungs to have cleared by.
