No no no no no. No need to look away. We have two kittens, well juveniles now, both aged 6 months. They both had the snip on Friday - Buttons, our boisterous and curious boy has been fine - but Rosie, our placid little lap cat split her stitches tonight. A quick trip to the emergency vets and she's had it stapled, glued and a collar put on. She is not a happy cat, and what's made it worse is that when we got her home Buttons really didn't like seeing her in the collar. It started with some growling, then he went for her. This is unprecedented - they've always loved each other, they play, eat and sleep together. I've had to put them in separate rooms to keep the peace. All she she wants to do is get the collar off and sulk, but she's still a cute cat even when she has the hump:

Thanks everyone - she's calming down now, still loves me and purrs like a steam train when stroked - so at least that's something! Chrissie - you're probably right, it's just weird and a little worrying. Luckily Mrs ionian is off work for the next couple of days so can keep a close eye on things, we will try taking the collar off tomorrow whilst she is supervised but it's going back on at bed time and if she gets a bit licky and scratchy.

Don't worry ionian about how Buttons reacted. More than Rosie looking different with having the collar on, she just wouldn't have smelled like Rosie

Aawww poor little mite. My 2 boys (bengal crosses) had their ops a few weeks ago and within a few hours they were behaving like complete thugs again. See...boys have it easy! I'm sure she'll be fine soon - loads of TLC and you'll have her back to normal in no time. She obviously has good servants - for those without cats, they don't have owners, THEY own US.

I shouldn't laugh but she is so funny with the collar on. Without her whiskers to help, she's walking into everything - this is not helping her mood! Chrissie - thanks for your explanation and reassurance, it makes sense and hopefully the yucky vet smell will soon disappear once we let her groom herself tomorrow.

Yep, they sure do, jacquif! Cute, but poor little baby, she'll soon be back to normal & they will be friends & cosy up tomorrow.
