Movie: Prisoners Movie type: Thriller Story: How far would you go to protect your family? Keller Dover is facing every parent's worst nightmare. His six-year-old daughter, Anna, is missing, together with her young friend, Joy, and as minutes turn to hours, panic sets in. The only lead is a dilapidated RV that had earlier been parked on their street. Heading the investigation, Detective Loki arrests its driver, Alex Jones, but a lack of evidence forces his release. As the police pursue multiple leads and pressure mounts, knowing his child's life is at stake the frantic Dover decides he has no choice but to take matters into his own hands. But just how far will this desperate father go to protect his family? Acting: Great, loved it all, really intense and great acting from both Jake Gyllenhaal and Hugh Jackman Star actor for me: Jake Gyllenhaal Thoughts: Bit long toothed but loved the twists and story, the acting side coming from Hugh Jackman with his actions of his missing child is awesome and the chasing for the truth from Jake Gyllenhaal with his twitching eye is just fantastic Score: 8.2 out of 10 Imdb link: www.imdb.com/title/tt1392214/

Movie: Elysium Movie type: Action/Drama/Thriller Story: In the year 2154, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Delacourt, a government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn't stop the people of Earth from trying to get in by any means they can. When unlucky Max is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that, if successful, will not only save his life but could bring equality to these polarized worlds. Acting: Pretty good from Matt Damon, not to over the top, Jodie Foster in it was very bad though Star actor for me: Easy this one "Matt Damon".......rest just fade in the background Thoughts: Quite liked it but there are so many kinda like this but it was not your Hey Ho America saves the world Score: 7 out of 10 Imdb link: www.imdb.com/title/tt1535108/

Movie: The Wolverine Movie type: Action/Fantasy Story: In modern day Japan, Wolverine is out of his depth in an unknown world as he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before. Acting: Not much to say apart from the only real good acting come from Hugh Jackman as the rest are just in the background like most action movies Star actor for me: Another no brainer "Hugh Jackman" solid performance with his usual now and again one liners Thoughts: Quite liked this one as i do like X-Men and Wolverine was my fave out the lot, loved the train scene, top stuff. Score: 7.2 out of 10 Imdb link: www.imdb.com/title/tt1430132/

I disliked Elysium due to the very wooden acting, especially Jodie Foster who continues her run of being terrible (the accent is just shocking). The story and action is what I'd expect from a cheap blockbuster (it not being a top flight expensive one). For me the best bit was Sharlto Copley doing a grand job being the nutcase. 4/10
The Wolverine was exactly what I expected but while I enjoyed it well enough I am a fan of the comics and think they did some rather heavy handed editing of the excellent Chris Claremont & Frank Millar source material (changing characters and motivations etc.). Nuff' Said. 5/10
Aint watched Prisoners yet but its only a matter of time.
P.S. I am quite harsh but I have watched far too many films in my life so have loads to compare it to.

Movie: Captain Phillips Movie type: Action, Adventure, Biography Story: Captain Phillips is a multi-layered examination of the 2009 hijacking of the U.S. container ship Maersk Alabama by a crew of Somali pirates. It is - through director Paul Greengrass's distinctive lens - simultaneously a pulse-pounding thriller, and a complex portrait of the myriad effects of globalization. The film focuses on the relationship between the Alabama's commanding officer, Captain Richard Phillips (two time Academy award®-winner Tom Hanks), and the Somali pirate captain, Muse (Barkhad Abdi), who takes him hostage. Phillips and Muse are set on an unstoppable collision course when Muse and his crew target Phillips' unarmed ship; in the ensuing standoff, 145 miles off the Somali coast, both men will find themselves at the mercy of forces beyond their control. Acting: Tom Hanks, what can i say he is outstanding, good acting buy all of them Star actor for me: Very simple, Tom Hanks Thoughts: Really liked this film, filmed great and for me it was very tense nearing the end, it even nearly brought a tear to my eyes with Tom Hanks, he really acts so well you get to feel the fear he is feeling. Score: 8.2 out of 10 Imdb link: www.imdb.com/title/tt1535109/

Movie: Insidious: Chapter 2 Movie type: Horror/Thriller Story: The haunted Lambert family seeks to uncover the mysterious childhood secret that has left them dangerously connected to the spirit world. Acting: Apart from Patrick Wilson poor poor poor. Star actor for me: Patrick Wilson Thoughts: Was really looking forward to this and was badly let down, hate when they stick comedy parts into a Horror movie and not once did this film make me jump, this film was way too predictable. Score: 5.5 out of 10 Imdb link: www.imdb.com/title/tt2226417/

Movie: Gravity Movie type: Drama/Sci-Fi/Thriller Story: Dr. Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock) is a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (George Clooney) in command of his last flight before retiring. But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone - tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. Acting: Only two actors but wow, what a performance, simply fantastic, Sandra Bullock shows what a actress she can really be....George Clooney was his quirky self and a joy too watch. Star actor for me: Sandra Bullock Thoughts: When i first thought about this film i thought "How is this gonna be great with just two actors" how wrong was i, just goes to show you don't need the full cast of hollywood to make a outstanding film, it's tense and loved it from the start too end. Score: 8.6 out of 10 Imdb link: www.imdb.com/title/tt1454468/

Movie: Carrie Movie type: Drama/Horror Story: A reimagining of the classic horror tale about Carrie White (Chloë Grace Moretz), a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom. Acting: Not bad acting from Chloë Grace Moretz but nothing special. Star actor for me: Cannot think of any tbh, none of them was anything special Thoughts: I do love my horrors and was looking forward to this but was quite disappointed with this film, most of the action and horror (if that's what they wanna call it) was in the last 15mins of the film, deffo not worthy of a cinema release. Score: 5.5 out of 10 Imdb link: www.imdb.com/title/tt1939659/

I watched two films last night. Both were good/ very good: Vendetta: www.imdb.com/title/tt2572632/ Lone Survivor: www.imdb.com/title/tt1091191/?ref_=nv_sr_1
I saw Elysium a while back but didn't think much of it. Gravity had good visual though not much of a storyline Carrie, didn't bother as saw the original Insidious CH 2 haven't watched but my daughter liked it I enjoyed Captain Phillips a few months ago it was good I thought Prisoners.. not sure if I've seen that one I will check Wolverine too long ago to remember LOL
Also saw Mandella in the long walk home 2 months ago and was disappointed as it was drawn out I thought. edit add: Yes I did see Prisoners a few weeks back. Very Good! Just checked trailers online.
