Why is this good news ?
you are being segregated ( just as smokers was to start off with ) then next step a ban. There is no legal reason ( or medical so far ) why we should be segregated.

I'm sorry, but I do not see this as "good news", quite the opposite.
By setting up an "e-cig zone" they are designating Vapors as a special group that are to be separated from other people and therefore treated differently.
I vape, so why should I be classed as anything different to any other punter, whether they vape or not.

Firstly lets just say , would you rather see a no e cigs allowed sign on display at the airport The main factor is , is that it is being allowed all be it in a designated area ( its a good start ) although vaping is not illegal , taking the attitude of I will vape where I want to is stupid , the main point is to win favor by not pushing vaping into peoples faces and just let time and understanding / educating be on our side , just look at how many places are putting there own ban on ecigs , work places , pubs / restaurants etc . ( shopping centers , ask striker42 ) . So I see this Heathrow project as a big sign to people that ummm look ecigs allowed if heathrow have allowed vaping it might not be as bad as what we think it is. The one big big factor is that its only vaping allowed and not smoking , if it was a combination of vaping and smoking then that would be a massive disaster for vaping , we need that segregation between vaping and smoking to be seen and I see this as the big opportunity for that to be seen at heathrow . If that is their intention that this area is for vaping only ?

I think we will need to agree to differ on that one mybad. Unfortunately for us, it will be the non-smoking/non-vaping community that designates whether vaping is the same as smoking, or not. And if not, what it is and how we are to be treated in the future.

I agree, I spent a while waiting for someone at Heathrow recently, and just vaped in the common area. Not stealth vaping, and there were cops etc all over with machine guns and stuff. No one said a word.

We seem to learn little from history and what can happen when we start segregating and making up rules for groups of people where no rules existed before and where these rules are not required.
Call it segregation, ethnic cleansing, apartheid it all comes under the same sick ideas brought about by little Hitlers who think that only their opinions should apply with no scientific reasoning to back them up.
Heathrow, likewise, appears to have made this ruling without any evidence or reasoning. As have quite a few other businesses.

As I see it, it looks more like a marketing move than anything else. There are no rules against vaping at Heathrow, so it’s not an improvement, and if vaping starts being restricted in the rest of the airport, it’s a big step backwards

There will be places where vaping is restricted but these will be to do with the equipment and these rules will be for safety reasons and have nothing to do with the act of vaping. That would be sensible and I would agree with those restrictions, but to ban or restrict any action purely on the basis of someone's unscientific opinion is disgraceful.
