I have put in recipe on two different calculators for a 30ml quantity of 12mg nic Bubblegum flavour.(10%) On one of them dot1ml - I seem only to be able to enter a quantity of 31ml for some reason - but in general, have I done it right. The first image is for dot1ml...... The second with ejuicecalculator does not specify the non nic base within the recipe - is this for me to determine say 50/50 VG/PG?

The second calculator seems a bit naff to me as it does not allow you to specify whether your nic base is PG or VG and does not say how much PG and/or VG dilutant to use. The first calculator is better and is correct assuming your nic base is 50/50 PG/VG A MUCH better calculator and the one that most of us use is the ejuice me up calculator ... download from here: ejuice.breaktru.com/

If you click inside the box you can also use the up and down arrows on your keyboard to increase/decrease the amount. Unless you make your way down to under 5ml the +/- buttons always use increments of 5ml. I wouldn't say that EJMU is much better than dot1ml (I believe the only main feature that EJMU has is the feature for combining different nic bases, whereas dot1ml has a few the EJMU doesn't). Full disclosure: dot1ml is my website

The mixer will still work if you load it up on a laptop then walk out of wifi range though.

Actually I find the dot1ml easier to use, the EJMU somewhat confuses me ( very easy to do) !! As I have said on this forum a few times (1) I am 70 (so fairly old!) (2) maths and calculations not my strongest subject and (3) like to keep things simple. to me for even trying I'd say!!

No problem with off topic! So going on the above dot1ml calculation, and my nic base being 50/50 PG/VG @36mg, is it right I have to ADD more dilutent of PG/VG at 5.68/10.33 respectively and then the flavour? If I later discover I would like more flavour, can I just add a few drops of concentrate to the already mixed 30ml? Apologies for all the questions.

Yes to both questions although adding more flavour will very slightly lower your nicotine strength

Yes - that's correct, your e-liquid will be composed of - 10.33ml of your nic base
- 5.68ml of PG
- 10.33ml of VG
- 4.65ml of bubblegum flavouring
... for a grand total of 31ml. You can add flavouring later but because it doesn't contain any nicotine this will slightly reduce the nicotine content of your e-liquid. If you're only adding a few percent then I wouldn't worry too much though. If you're new to mixing then it's often a good idea to start out with smallish batches just in case it doesn't come out as you had hoped! I usually go for 5ml (or 10ml if I'm feeling confident) but some start with as little as 3ml mixes.

Yes I am new to mixing, and have been given this advice for mixing small quantities first before on this forum, but I am abroad at the moment and do not have a supply of tiny 5ml or 10 ml bottles. I also want to give some to friends to try.......I may be able to decant into small bottles they may have......so In a way I HAVE to mix this amount and hope for the best. I am good at "tweaking" , so I am sure it will not all be in vain. LOL! Anyway fingers crossed, it is a learning curve.

good luck to you emmita i have only just started mixing myself and have used dot1ml myself as its easy and str8 forward to understand i personally think that anything under the 10ml mark is tricky ..so i jumped straigh in at 10ml and now one week on am making 30ml with confidence as long as your getting the right amounts in each bottle then it can only be the flavour that lets it down ..RIGHT ? as you quite rightly say adding a few drops wont make all that much diff to the mg bear this in mind 30ml bottle mixed at 10% will be 3 ml @ 15% 4.5 ml and at 20% that i just dive str8 in at will be 6ml (just flavourings that is) so it may well be that if you say mix at 15% and its too weak ,,then a few drops wont make that much difference you may need to add a further 1.5ml all this may well baffle you ..i know it used to me ,,but i have tried to make it easy to understand for an example purpose only wishing you all the luck in the world for your mixes

I have just this minute finished mixing my first 30 ml of Bubblegum flavour, my favourite at the moment. It smells delicious, but I suppose I have to wait for a week or so to steep. Does anyone have any idea of the optimum steeping time for Bubblegum? Thanks for your good wishes millerkev I am sure all will be fine once I have my head around things. It certainly seems very complicated at first
