Chrissie, Keef and I have been using SDs for yonks, they are very reliable. Firstly, the 905 is a cheaper, Chinese copy of Trog's Screwdriver. I'd go for Trog's for build quality and ease of repair (the "first issue" had a button that was easy to snap off if you dropped it, which I did a lot - it's a fatter, more stable button nowadays). The main advantage of SD is the batteries, which are much longer-lasting - 3, 4 hours or more, depending on your vaping habits. www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.13927Example of charger: www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.33913Their prices include delivery. You use ordinary 901 atties, but you can get an adapter to use 510 or 801. It's very comfortable to use, though of course you'd take a little while to get used to handling such a different size and shape: Trog sells the MarkI direct and had a special offer recently, might be worth checking; the MarkII (hardly any difference, Keef or Chrissie will explain) is sold by Totally Wicked. Is that enough to get you started? I'm online for a while, I'm watching Jose's team play the Russians and soon it will be Arsenal vs Barcelona So I'm watching over the top of my netbook PS - the cord you can see over my little finger is part of the neck lanyard I use. Very useful, I don't drop mine any more Keef has been using her SD non-stop for at least a year and will tell you her experience as a sensible user who's not accident prone and give you good advice scylla x

Hi pixie The benefits for me ... Batteries - are much cheaper - hold their charge longer and live longer. No self clean . No blinking LED . If you do manage to Fry it (melt the spring) they are in the UK and have a fast turn around for repairs. On top of that I find it much more comfortable to use than I did the smaller 901. The SD comes in a 510 model so if that is your preferred atomiser then it would be best to get a 510 as opposed to getting a 901 and a converter. The new switch is easy to replace no need to send it back for repair. At the end of the day it is a holder for large batteries and you are replacing the battery not the holder as opposed to the small battery type where you throw away the holder and the battery. Have you read this thread ?. allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=226Take a wander through it and if you have any questions unanswered come back and ask.

Pixie, there has been quite a few reports of problems with the DSE905, so I do think you would be a lot better off paying the extra for a Screwdriver.
A big battery holder (mod) will soon pay for itself due to, as Keef says, "Batteries - are much cheaper - hold their charge longer and live longer"

Prof, you use Spiderfires don't you? A number of us are finding recently purchased Deal Extreme batts to be a bit feeble. As for what the point of that question/statement is, I'm not sure. Very tired today scylla

Thanks for all your help. Is it possible to buy the batteries from shops as they are rechargeable or can you only get them over the internet? Pixie

You can only get them on the internet.
For the mk1 SD you need 16340 lithium ion batteries 3.6v 0r 3.7v - dont worry about the mAh anything from 800 to 1200 is fine.
