dognosh .. if this situation has upset or angered you, might I suggest, for the sake of your sanity, that you don't order from Chinese vendors .... such problems are an every day occurrence with the Chinese and are multiplied by a factor of 10.

British only I only use Brit vendors you guys have used and recommend. And when I have to be forced to use eBay, I tick the UK only box immediately

dognosh, having read the whole thread, I would be inclined to agree with those that ask if the PDF which was created immediately after the transaction was simply stating the delivery method, rather than stating that the package had already been signed for. However, the answer is surely to have a chat with the vendor - I am a little surprised that you haven't done this before TBH. This would be the quickest and easiest way of ascertaining what the PDF was saying.

Some Vendor's websites software do actually create a PDF of your order almost immediately after you've placed it, I can think of a couple that I've used in the past that do this.
It doesn't mean that there's anything untoward going on, just the way their sites work.

When did you place the order? When did the order change to signed for/delivered?
If it has been delivered (to someone, but not you) you can phone up the vendor ask them for a tracking number. Check the tracking number on the Royal Mail website. If it says delivered you can then go back to the vendor to ask them to phone Royal Mail.
Royal Mail will be able to tell them where it was signed for and who signed for it.
Good luck.

This thread keeps jumping to the top of my unread on my proboards app and I don't understand the problem, having read it few times!
Basically it seems to me that its just a problem of wording on the venders site, yeah?
Think they just mean that this is the method of delivery, not that it has already been signed for, especially as it was updated immediately following purchase?
If you did not receive the item then they would have to show a signature to prove it had been signed for, and it would be royal mail who would provide this info.
Glad you didn't give name of vender as don't really think they have done a lot wrong apart from maybe bad phrasing!
Anyhow, hope this thread disappears as its starting to annoy me lol.
