I concur with the raising of the shield as pull it too far will cause issues or not pulling up enough will also cause issues to me when I pulled mine up it made my wick look like a pair of wings

Thank guys...I got it fixed this pm. Only thing I am finding is that can't fill the tank full otherwise it does flood but vaping away happily. Will take 2ml or so though

That bit on top of the deck really has to go on tight otherwise it floods ...have gotten 2mmx 3 and a flavour wick - sorted...

I've actually got 8.5mm of silica on mine. I tried 2mm x 3 first and thought it looked a bit thin for the juice holes.
I then re-did it with 3 + 3 + 2.5. No problems yet.

It's just a big evod really....

I'm pleased you got it working, @johanino

I used 3 x 2mm and that seemed to fill the holes for me but I made the tails longer than 2mm too. When pulling up the centre bit make sure it isn't pulled up too far as a gap could be created which could cause leaking.

I played with it this am and it was flooding a little. Have like 2.5mm so going to try that

Has anyone set the Taifun up with mesh & ekowool?

Not me chris

Just tried the 2.5mm silica x2 and like 2mm flavour wick. Couldn't get the atomiser cap on.....now not vaping

Going back to the 2mm x 3 and flavour wick (after a wee vape)....think that is better.....messy

How much should the deck collar be raised. I have to just the taifun wording just showing

I haven't bothered to set mine up yet, as I'm waiting for the ss base, but I would think the raising of the deck collar is trial & error....the rule of thumb seems to be to have the writing showing completely, but I stand corrected.

Just checked mine Jane  ... the bottom of the "f" is about 1mm above the threading.

Yeah...@freefromsmoking....I've just finished setting it up as a trial.......400 mesh, 5 wraps of 0.20 kanthal & 2mm ekowool laid over the top.......I'm about to fill it up with juice & give it a go.....

Right, I've fired it up & so far, so good.....no leaks or gurgles.......the only problem is a tight draw, which I'll need to suss out.....for some reason, it reminds me of the Fogger, which I hated with a passion.

Anyway, I coiled it much the same as I do the Aga-T.....5 wraps around a 3mm nail (to compensate for the width of the channels)....fitted the coil first & then rolled the mesh to fit through it & it sits snugly in the channels.....2mm ekowool sitting on top & "Brenda's ya auntie".......

In all honesty, my first impressions are not anything to write home about, but then, I love my Kayfuns & haven't used mesh in a while.....it's ok......better than the Fogger.......I'll play about with it some more later & try different set ups.....

I've now lifted the base a fraction & it's cured the tight draw.........what I've found is, position the deck collar so the bottom of the writing is about 1-2mm above the base, then, when you screw it into the plastic chamber, it'll adjust itself correctly as it meets resistance.
