... easy to set up, and works very well. What did you go for in the end? I'm keen to get a feel for the width of silica (2mm x 2 strands etc.) needed to get good performance. djs, remembered where the Utube vid was, Eartis

Hi got mine from ft 3days ago and really like it,shame that i have also got to wait for the stainless base and that the stainless steel tank is not included and got listed a few days after mine got posted, so could not be sent together.
Set mine up using 10 wraps of. 3k around a 3mm drill bit and 3mm ekowool threaded tho no need for flavour wick. Its working well good flavour and vapour with a strong hit, although i have had the occasional dry hit quick prime and it sorts it out, so its not yet bothered me to recoil it. Next time im going to try 2.5mm eko or cotton. The threading on the plastic tank is very very tight as i had to use rubber gloves to take it apart its getting better but i still take care with it.

Great! I can follow your lead. (not that hear the patter of the Postman's feet or the squeeky wheels of his modified golf trolley....)

I got so bored, I found my old AGR+ tanks, took them apart and cleaned them (more split tanks... ) and made one good 'un. Filled it up, chucked it on a brand new Vamo V5 (18350, just for a change) and starting puffing. Do I really need RBAs when this set-up is just the business? (Yes, Dave, you do....) More postie stalking next Monday.

I set up the Taifun as detailed in the instruction manual @freefromsmoking linked to with 3 x 2mm silica and I was so impressed that I started researching the original a bit more. It seems that a new version with a glass tank is coming out in the first quarter of next year. I may have to start saving the pennies.

I have ordered the all SS tank from FT ... a bargain at £2.83 ... glad to hear that you are enjoying yours ... roll on Christmas as I have about £150 worth of vaping goodies to open including the Taifun ... going to be a lot of ultrasonic cleaning and coiling over Christmas.

Oh, I should have said, I found the base difficult to get off so I put some washing up gloves on and that gave me a better grip and it came off quite easily. I also smeared the threads on the plastic tank with some juice and that made it much easier to screw it back into the base.

I had mine stripped down to check the deck material and other than the chromed brass deck, I was very impressed with the build quality ... an absolute steal at £13 ... I must admit that I have reservations about the whole clones thing and I just wish that the makers of the genuine articles would mass produce and bring the prices within the reach of the ordinary Joe, but hey ho, it is what it is.

Yep, it is incredible for the price, especially if the stainless steel base is as good. The plus side is that it has gotten me seriously interested in purchasing the original which I would never have even thought about without being able to try it first.

That is indeed the other side of the clones coin ... try it on the cheap to see if you get on with it and then seek out the original.

I got it! Many thanks to @freefromsmoking archiecat robby shiny kailey @johanino and anyone else who contributed. Set it up with 3 strands of 2.5mm. 5 wraps of 0.25. 1.9 ohms. I didn't look hopeful on the first pulse...not much glowing at all. Soaked the wick, fired it (hmmm, a bit woosey).....filled up the base.....screwed it all together.... HOLD ON! That does't look right.... I'd attached the tank upside down. It's not a good look with the atomiser hidden behind the steel tube and the clear tank up the wrong end. Anyway. Vaped it. Not great at 8.0 watts. Turned it up to 10. Bingo. Fabulous. Ultra-smooth. Loads of vapour, even my rubbish flavour juice tastes very, very good. RESULT.
