My experience with 'all-in-one' things is: If one bit goes wrong the whole thing is out of action. MM

Yes, MM - if you've got the space and you're happy with your scanner, I'd just go for an Epson printer and, if you need to economise, either buy cheap cart refills or the refill system Camper talks about.

Think I will go to the Industrial Estate and have a look around - touchy, feely (and that's just the young male sales assistants!!!). Look at microwaves at the same time. Thanks to everyone for trying to help. MM

best bet is to look round but dont buy and when you get home check to see if their is a CISS available for the model you want as they dont make them for every printer

Thanks Camperman, for your advice on here, think I will certainly go for an Epson.
I don't drive so have to rely on someone to take me, usually have to make a decision there and then. Anyway, I will have good look around. Cheers MM
Scyll, whatever Microwave I choose will be very basic - cos my ole brain can't cope with new things these days. Cheers all MM

Microwave wise if you just want a basic - try a supermarket - should be able to get a basic one for less than £40

Thanks Jo for both posts. I like the Lidl microwaves but they haven't any available at the moment. Tried to get the printer working again this morning. Rolled around on the floor to take it out of mains point last night as Camper suggested - tried this morning - still no joy!!! Think I will go to bed for a month at least and ignore the world !!! MM

Grandson arrived this morning to have a look at what he needed to replace my light fittings. He went off and bought them for me, all ok and, at the same time, bought a new fuse for my microwave. No joy with it though - absolutely dead!! Not doing very well am I?? He couldn't fit the lights today as he is going off to a 'rave' in Portsmouth - oh! to be young again!! MM

Dear {{{MM}}} I do hope you get sorted very very soon! Lidl had a microwave and conventional (or convection?) oven combo a couple of weeks ago, and an ordinary microwave (or was it with grill?) not long before that - so I don't suppose we'll be seeing them again soon Ten years ago I bought SO a basic LG, he says it's about the only electrical thing he's got that never goes wrong and he's ultra-pleased with it. But you can't trust none of it nowadays > tho getting one with a built-in extended warranty might be a good idea. You'll have to get out your induction hob - if you can scylla x

Yes, Scyll - I saw the offers a little while back but didn't need anything then!!! What's a 'basic LG??' I've got their little fan oven which I use - also got same model packed away for new place as the one I use is mucky and I don't like cleaning 'em!!! I did think about the induction hob, but it is packed near the bottom of a pile - ready to go. Remember! you have to teach me how to use it when it does surface!!! so that I don't get screwed up fried eggs again!! I hope I have workspace enough for all these gadgets in the new place!! MM Anyway, I am definitely going to the sheds tomorrow - Elvis has been forced into taking me, come rain or shine.

I just meant an LG microwave with no other functions like grill etc. With the induction hob, I think you just need to study the manual and learn how to turn the heat up and down. It should just be a case of tapping the right button or marker. The reaction is instant with induction, even more so than gas, so you should have great control. I wish I had that model but I've never even seen it Lack of space would be a good reason to get a combo - but I have to say that my Panasonic is quite complicated with so many controls, I think they're all the same simply because they do so much, so I can't recommend one whole-heartedly. scylla
