I want to sign but they want a lot of personal details.

This is most certainly legit boyofford over 1000 signatures were collected in the first 6 hours . The details asked are similar to the Electoral roll as it verifies for the EU that actual citizens voted

I am not at all political (ie I don't normally vote) but I have signed this, and am encouraging other folk to.
As I said before,and is confirmed by gibla53 , these details are only for the EU to check that you are entitled to vote.

The EFVI people!e have already had to jump through hoop and red tape to get us vapers this chance to be heard.
The data collection and storage system has to conform to very strict standards.
The results map (and possibly the actual data collection) isnot just some Tom/Dick/Harry site , look carefully, it is part of the EU site - how much more official can you get?

Have a look at the EFVI website , for more info, but please do sign it, and get family and friends to do so. We only need to collect 54750 signature in the UK to get our voice heard.

As kind of mentioned before I HATE POLITICS BUT I'VE SIGNED THIS.

Very well said fred , this is the Consumers BEST CHANCE to get themselves heard , The WVO is a combined Consumers/vendors idea that is probably more for the

possible court battles to come . This for now is a straw that that we can genuinely clutch to , similar to fred I have never had any interest or involvement

in activist Politics .

We are all novices in this game But need to learn V.Quickly asap

OK, I have done a little research into the domain and organisation etc behind it and it does seem to be legit. So OK to sign.

Please excuse my earlier post about being worried regarding the details they are asking for, please understand, with my working in IT etc if it weren't legit an identity theif would have all their Christmases come at once.

NP mate - I've been following EFVI since they started setting it up - procedures & regulations etc to follow. Certain no of votes needed etc. Timescales to adhere to. Etc. Etc. Etc. 

But it is OUR CHANCE to be heard - even folk like me who don't do politics can be counted for something we believe in.

A Call to Action from Vapers For Vapers.

"We invite you to support the European Citizens' Initiative launched by 7 vapers from 7 states of the European Union, called EFVI :European Free Vaping Initiative.

What is a European Citizens' Initiative? Why EFVI initiative? How to participate?

With the Lisbon Treaty , the European Union ( EU) has given its citizens the opportunity to ask the Commission to make legislative proposals . This request takes the form of a " European Citizens' Initiative " ( ECI), i.e. a text which must be supported by at least one million European citizens. A minimum number of signatories must be exceeded in 7 of the 28 countries of the EU. For the UK alone, this number is 54750.

EFVI asks that the free sale of electronic cigarettes across Europe should be maintained. Electronic cigarettes should not be classified as medicine nor as tobacco product. E-cigarettes have helped many people to quit smoking or significantly reduce their cigarette consumption.

The European Union has decided to move the electronic cigarettes of their initial status of general consumer goods and to regulate them inside of the Tobacco Product Directive (TPD). This text has been under negotiation for years, and must go for approval in March within the European Parliament. This text, as it stands, will remove from the market all models of electronic cigarettes that satisfy smokers, known as 2nd and 3rd generation devices, while allowing 1st generation “Cig a Likes”. In addition, the text will allow countries ban them completely or to classify the electronic cigarette as a medicine in direct contradiction with the vote of the European Parliament of 8 October 2013, where medical regulation was voted against.

Like any European Directive, the TPD will impose national regulations, which can only be tougher and more restrictive than current regulations.
