I noticed that when I first bought it too, but turns out it doesn't work that way. It goes to the full Voltage/Wattage with a single battery.
Still don't understand why it's written like that in the manual....

Going to buy an 18650, just read that thread where the device exploded, really dont want to risk that.
ive got two 18350s to keep me going one at a time of course

Oops I meant 18650 mode, of course.

I think an 18650 battery is better. I would never stack batteries even in protected devices.

I use 18500's when I'm at work. Cuts down on size nicely and gets me through a shift easily.
