We do check lunch boxes at my school 1) to check there is no nuts 2) to check the child has eaten lunch, some don't if they want to go and play and pre-teen girls also stop eating we only check in this way if it is a cause for concern. 3) to check the child has enough food, sometimes we've had some with so little we send them to school dinners But mainly as long as it's not sweets and reasonably healthy it's fine

Not only is this totally stupid, but it is totally stupid. Look at him, hardly obese is he? Mini cheddars are not exactly horrendously unhealthy either.
Packed lunches should be banned for all those younger than a teenager anyhow. So many kids do not get a cooked dinner when they go home, school lunch is often their only cooked meal of the day.

This same story was in the news again, they have now actually expelled the boy. As the head teacher said "the boys parents have tarnished the schools reputation" and he also said reason for explelling him now is because his parents persistently break school rules

I can not understand any parent who doesn't give their child an evening meal after school. Sending your child to bed hungry is child abuse!

It seems the way things were in my school years have changed . Every night after school, despite a proper school dinner, I was given a big home cooked meal, and a pudding. Nowadays kids get a sandwich or they snack on things. Parents say they don't have time to be cooking, they work, well in that case they shouldn't have had children, the children should come first.
