i have one (or 3!) the thing which bugs me is the recessed 510 connection. i need an adapter

As Perpetua said, AW and Efest batteries are known to be safe. I'd also add Torchy batteries to the list - here is the ebay shop for them:clicky Torchy is well known and respected on vaping forums and his prices are very reasonable.

It's also important to have a reliable charger from a reputable vendor. Efest, Xtar and Nitecore are good brands to look out for.
