This story has been all over my Facebook timeline today. And my god the crap people are spouting is borderline mental. m.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cornwall-26231522Yes. It's incredibly sad. But how many times has chocolate killed dogs? Or bloat? Or well, people. I suppose they should all be banned as well. My eliqud is kept under lock and key because I have dogs they will eat anything. But obviously the owners stupidity is not called into questions. It's the evil evil ecigs at if again. Saddens me that people are so ill educated. And well, stupid. Poster is adamant this info will save lives. Both animal and human.

"The vet said e-cigarettes might not need to be "under lock and key", but they should certainly be kept away from children and pets."
This I agree with.
The thing I dont agree with is that this story made the news, the same would happen if someone accidently dropped one of their pills, obviously dependant on what was in the pill but same scenario. S#*t happens get over it. I feel sorry for the dog and the dogs family but it was just an unfortunate accident. Which has now got the antz up our backs again. to be honest I dont think we will ever be left alone to vape in peace, a sad but unfortunate fact

Also same would have happened if pup had fished a used nicotine patch out the bin or an apparently empty inhalater cartridge. Have they considered banning NRT have they F#*k!!

Just posted this in the members section.
One question I would ask is how did a 14 week old puppy get hold of a bottle of liquid.

Bloody typical. Millions of people die from smoking and nobody gives a damn. Yet one ickle cutesy puppy dies from it's owner's carelessness and the world is up in arms. When will the media and the public get their priorities straight.

Exactly, I have two dogs, at 14 weeks you couldn't leave ANYTHING within reach, but it's nothing to do with the owners stupidity at all. Nope. Purely down to those evil ecigs. Poster also called it 'vapping'. As you can see, knows his stuff.

Here we go again..... Sometime ago a member on the vape pit forum posted similar about his pug puppy that died doing much the same thing. I really don't get it!! An animal as young as this stands a good chance of dying if it swallowed most things at such a young age. At 12 weeks it wouldn't have long been weaned off mothers milk for gods sake! Yes, it happened to be nicotine, but, it could have been millions of other different substances. Vaping is not at fault, the bloody idiotic owners are for leaving the stuff about with a young pup in the house.

No worries Jerri.
The more people who know about the danger of eliquid around children and animals the better, but to blame ecigs alone is wrong.
As with anything containing chemicals we all have to be careful and store correctly to prevent accidents.

As the ex-owner, I assume, used to be a smoker would the story have had the same impact if the puppy had taken a full packet of cigs and eaten them because the result would have been the same. Yes the Gov. should ban ecig sales to under 18s - IQ that is. I feel sorry for the puppy but the irresponsible owner is obviously a complete moron and should not be allowed pets. OK rant over I now feel better

It'll blow over I'm sure, it's not like the fact that nic is poisonous is a new concept. I like to give the benefit of the doubt that the majority of mankind has a functioning brain.

Just posted this in the members section. One question I would ask is how did a 14 week old puppy get hold of a bottle of liquid. The owners facebook page says "the pup SOMEHOW managed to get hold of a bottle of e liquid and had managed to pierce the bottle, the resulting smear of nicotine on her tooth claimed her life this morning after being at the vets all night, the e fluid is lethal be warned, there appears to be no cure, and the lids are not child proof lids, please please share this as nicotine is a lethal poison and people should be warned

I've merged the threads but left it in the General section. It already seems to be all over the net so we may as well leave this where it is easily found to allow a more balanced view of this tragedy to be aired.

Bad news makes a good attention grabbing headline, that's the tabloid press for you . . . whatever the subject matter. Don't ever expect to read anything positive about ecigs especially from the Daily Fail, else you'll be disappointed.
