I have several venues in mind, what are we looking for? Old mans pub? Cocktails? Fancy bar?

cosy pub - no cocktails please or fancy stuff - generally you just pay double the price for each drink

Hope you don't mind me adding a few suggestions - I may pop along to one

Having set meetings up for other events in the past-

You don't want to limit it to just 3 or so people who live in York, so the main thing is wherever it is it needs to have a car park.
It also needs to be a short journey away from public transport, i.e a bus stop.

At this time of year it also needs to be vape friendly, in the summer a beer garden would be enough.

City centre locations do not go down well as one they are more expensive, 2 a pain to get to for anyone driving, 3 weekends and city centres are fine for getting trollied but not so good for meets.


Find a venue that is accessible to most, whose drinks are a reasonable price, who have a car park, are vape friendly or at least have a warm area to use, and then pick a date -
any except the 29th March lol.

Thanks for the tips, I will keep these in mind. I am thinking that most people who are travelling will come from leeds/bradford way so shall pick a venue that side of york. I just have to test the vaping policy, which means I have to go to the pub..... you see the things I do for you guys?

The wonkey donkey is too close to town in light of recent comments. Thinking either the deramore (good transport links but unsure on vape policy), or one of the fulford pubs, any thoughts?

That one looks really nice, not sure where it is exactly but as you say it has good transport links so that would be fine.
They are dog friendly, and have a large beer garden .
If said beer garden has heaters would people mind using that to vape rather than inside?

Vaping is still seen as smoking or worse - like doing drugs - with many people and a group of rather merry people in the city centre could have an issue with it.
