I think the most scaremongering that's been done about e-cigs has been due to the media with all the bad publicity that they have been putting about. I don't think it would have been a cultural thing at all if it hadn't been for the media.

Analogue cigarettes, then yes, I believe that has developed into a cultural thing now mainly due to the passive smoking side effects having been reported over so many years. But I also believe that if e-cigs had been left alone by the media (or better still even praised by the media) then there wouldn't have been so much confusion over the safety of e-cigs that there is today.

A friend of mine, over for a 2 week visit, is a smoker. When she saw me with an e-cig she told me her father was going to buy her an e-cig ages ago, but due to newspaper reports he'd heard they were bad for you, worse than analogue cigarettes, so not only did he not buy her an e-cig but he actually advised her not to buy one herself, so she carries on with the lethal nicotine delivery method of smoking 

I think, in the main, the general public are not as opposed to e-cigs as the media is making out. I have come across many non-smokers, never been smokers, who are intrigued when they see you vaping and they start asking questions, or confirm what they already believe e-cigs to be, such as most know the vapour produced by an e-cig is just vapourised water, so they tend to confirm that with you. They realise that there is no harm to them from an e-cig and are quite happy to be around you vaping and find out more information about the e-cigs in general.

The main contenders against e-cigs that I've come across are actually smokers who don't even want to try an e-cig. Met one just last week when I was vaping who tried to tell me that e-cigs were rubbish, when asked if he'd tried them his reply was no, I prefer the real thing as he puffed away on his analogue.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents for the day

I had the same kind of thing on Tuesday toots we were in a vape friendly pub having a drink for OH birthday & someone said that my ecig was worse than smoking i tried to explain that they are no where near as bad as smoking as theres no chemicals in them & also explained what is actually in the liquid but the person would not listen
i mean at the end of the day you cannot educate pork can you! so then i used my ace card & said well my bank account is £1,500 better off now so i am quite happy with that.

I can't use the financial benefit argument over here as it is actually cheaper to smoke than vape

You can buy some cigarettes here for a little over 1 euro per pack of 20

Uk brands such as L & B, Benson & Hedges a little over 2 euros pack of 20

Not when they're using the argument that e-cigs are worse for your health than normal cigarettes which was what dinamic22 was talking about in her post.

Just let the smokers carry on if that's how they see it. It's their choice. What I do say to smokers is that you only get one life,this is not a dress rehearsal.

I read there are 100,000 deaths a year caused my smoking in UK.
I also read ecigs are 1000 times safer than smoking so that means using ecigs there will be 100 deaths a year.
There are 500 deaths a year caused by Food poisoning. Ignoring deaths from obesity from eating, I am safer vaping by a factor of 5 compared to eating.
Damn it, we should partition the Government to ban all food as it is 5 times more dangerous than vaping.
