(((Nats)))
When our niece comes to visit i don't vape in front of her, if i want to vape i jus pop off to another room for 5 mins, it's not very nice being told not to do something in your own home but i doubt your brother will change his mind.
It could also be as Jem said that it looks like smoking. Best to keep the peace for your niece's and your sake xx

I dont vape in front of my two youngest, 7 and 8 year old.. Why? Because I dont believe that I should provide them that example.
I dont want them to smoke or vape. Nicotene is still an addictive drug, no matter how much safer vaping is, and I would rather them not be addicted.
Conversely, and this will probably open me up for some criticism, my 15 year old daughter was smoking, I knew, and I could do something about it.. She now vapes, thats my choice, I would rather that than she smoke in secret... Her 17 year old boyfriend smoked, he now vapes, I bought him the kit.. Am I happy about it? No. But I prefer that things be up front and with my knowledge... And I control her nicotene consumption... Have now weaned her down onto 5mg mixes..it will eventually be 0mg, and she doesn't notice...

With you all the way Raw, i found out my daughter was smoking when she was 16, silly girl started to nick my fags!! We got her on to vaping this year and now she hardly vapes, only when at work with her friends Im just so glad i got her off of those cancer sticks before to much damage was done.

I totally agree Tim ...vaping is by far the lesser of two evils ...and great idea of stealthly lowering your daughters nic level and hence addiction... thats what i intend to do to myself over time

Why's that? The 'poor' child has to live in nowadays world, go to school/play in exhaust polluted air, inevitably lives within range of one or the other industrial estate etc. They are over-pampered enough as it is, yet when drug consumption decreases every few years its a reason to celebrate. [disclaimer] I don't take drugs, I don't even drink alcohol but I do have a problem with control freaks[/disclaimer] It's nothing to do with the "poor" (your word) child, it's the rights of the parents to choose what goes on around that child. We know that most of all that comes out of the end of an ecig is vapour, but you brother doesn't know that for definite, even we don't know exactly what are the long term effects are. He's being a protective parent, as a parent I understand that. I have vaped in front of my 2 year old a few times and now he has a pencil that he pretends to "smoke/vape" you have no idea how much this upsets me.

Both of my parents grew up in the 1930s Depression. I was taught not to waste anything and leftovers are eaten until they are gone. We don't waste anything around here and throwing out perfectly good food should be a crime.

Actually, Gordy, I believe that they are representative of many Americans, but not all.

I'll meander off topic as well Gordy . . . what irks me is this seeming modern obsession on 'Sell by' dates . . . I've friends who will bin perfectly usable foodstuffs if they've gone 30 seconds past their Sell/Use By . . . the Company I work for now, bins an obscene amount of perfectly edible food because of the laws governing it's sale. I so agree with that perpy. By rights, everyone over the age of 30 (that's a rough guess) should be dead if sell by/use by dates are anything to go by. We used our eyes and noses to tell if food was fit to eat. When I was a child hundreds of years ago, my parents didn't have a fridge. There was a marble shelf in our larder, which my Mum used to call the 'cold slab'. Cheese, butter and everything else we keep in a fridge nowadays was put on the cold slab. Bottles of milk were on the larder floor in a bucket of cold water in the summer months. And we're all still alive! I totally ignore sell by/use by dates and check that food's OK to eat like my Mum did.

Completely agree Fuzzy . . . my parents couldn't afford a fridge, so we made do and lived to tell the tale . . . a lot healthier for it I think. We write off hundreds of £1's worth of stuff ( non perishable goods ) each month, purely because the pack may be split or it's come to the end of it's shelf life . . . to just toss it away I find criminal. Just like to say as well, as a non parent . . . I think you parents have shown a really great attitude to finding that your children smoked, how to turn a negative into a positive for them . . . they'll thank you for it in later life I'm sure.
