Am I good to go for my 1st mix? Glycerin, 54mg nic pg base, selection on chocolate and mint flavouring along with koolada, empty 10ml bottle, gloves and several syringes. Most importantly AAEC MIX CALCULATOR and a pen and paper. Thinking about using Capella Dutch choc mint (doesn't smell very minty) with some Capella peppermint and koolada. Any guidance to % of each? Think I'll make 5 ml to start.

All looks good to me rednutt . . . have you had a lick of the Capella Dutch Choc Mint, to see if there's more ' mintyness ' coming through on the taste? I'd probably go for 3% Peppermint if there isn't, less of the Koolada . . . then try it in 3 weeks time. You can always add more, but you can't take it out.

This has to be the perfect thread to read on the very day I'm stepping into DIY mixing. I've been thinking about it for ages but wasn't sure which flavours to start with. I'm just about to order the gold mixing kit from the alchemists cupboard and tjuice concentrates for red Astaire and jack the ripple. I've read all the mixing advice, perused the calculator and washed and sterilised all my old bottles. One question remains, how long should I steep the above flavours? I know I've read it somewhere but can't find it again. I hope your mixing is going well rednutt! EDT Catastrophe! Red Astaire is out of stock, don't want to pay 2 lots of postage on the concentrates so just going to have to sit on my hands and admire the mixing kit...

I know I've read it somewhere but can't find it again. There is a page on the subject HERE, is that what you were looking for?

Oooer teethcv, left em in a bit too long maybe? The alchemists steeping page recommends 1 second bursts, I think I'll stick to hiding them in a cupboard, otherwise knowing my luck I'll cook them! Just waiting to pounce the minute chefs vapour or t-juice get their red Astaire back in stock. The mixing kit does come with 2 Capella flavours, I've picked caramel and vanilla custard. I wanted to play it safe with the t-juice concentrates for my first mix as they're supposed to be pretty much idiot proof, though they've not met this idiot!

Red Astaire and other t-juice concentrates in stock here - They also sell capella in a choice of 5ml, 10ml or 20ml bottles. www.justvape247.com/t-juice-concentrates-59-c.asp

I'd probably go for 3% Peppermint if there isn't, less of the Koolada . . . then try it in 3 weeks time. You can always add more, but you can't take it out. Hmmmm. Ok lastnight I made a 5ml sample containing approx 12% (0.6ml)Dutch choc mint, 5% (0.25ml) peppermint and 1 drop of koolada to approx 1.67ml 54mg pg nic and 2.5ml vg. Tried a wee bit and thought it was really weak so I added more drops of choc and mint ( probably a newbie mistake). I'm not getting a mint flavour coming through. So this morning before I went to work I did 5ml peppermint with 20% and that too is really weak. I tasted the Capella Dutch choc mint flavouring ewww it's bitter but definitely chocolate. Can't really taste the mint but it had a cool feeling on the tongue. The Capella peppermint flavour smells just like polo mints, why doesn't it taste like it when mixed? Maybe my mouth is just dead haha. Maybe I'm just expecting too much but I did think the mint would be ready straight away. Do people add more than 20% flavour? Also I found it really difficult (impossible actually) to extract the vg out the bottle using a syringe so I decanted some in to a 10ml bottle and sat in a bowl of hot water and was able to get it into the syringe from there. What do you guys do? Sorry for the mega questions x
