Hi all, I have a ton of help me's coming so please bear with me! I have a ton of protank 3's; small/large and the mega aero and thanks to some very kind members on the forum, I am experiencing the pleasures of a microcoil and cotton setup. Problem is I cannot seem to find the best way to seal the head into the chimney given that the coils I am using are for the protank 1/2. I have tried various configerations big cup/small cup, right way and upside down and still seem to experience some form of leaking. Really liking the vape from this set up but am wondering, do I cut my losses and get some protank 2's to avoid the problem or is there a reliable fix? I know there is another option but i already have a kayfun tinkering about with that is currently travelling to another kind member on the forum

Hi , I can only comment on the two protank 2's that I own . I was ready to throw them in the bin due to constant leaking issues and tried everything but found a really simple fix that should also work on the protank 3's. When you wick it put a very thin layer of cotton wool around the edge of the little chamber before screwing it into the base as this extra touch of cotton helps absorb the juice . And after filling the protank up of juice screw the top on and turn it upside down and gently blow into 510 connector on the bottom just make sure you have a bit of tissue over the mouth piece. This pushes the air out which causes the leaking , hope i make sense and if not ill take a couple of photos. Trouble is when you have the kayfun set up properly you will never use a protank again

Lol thank you for your reply, i think I get what you mean! it's just a pain having found out the beauty of a microcoil that i have to spend time faffing with seals and stuff to get them tight properly. All being well, i should have my kayfun back by weekend so hopefully I will get on better with that, but in the meantime...i have more than a few protank 3's

Mrsmac, you need to find some way to build up the seal around the top tube of the head up, so it matches the height of a protank 3 head. Using silicon washers or O rings works.

Hi, If you are putting a single coil in a dual coil head you'll need extra wick to fill the larger grooves. If it's just the chimney seal leaking, I put a spare o-ring on before the silicone cap. You have to screw it together quite hard but it seams to seal nicely. I've given up recoiling dual protank 3 heads, more trouble than its worth. I won a kanger unitank on Saturday and it has a redesigned chimney seal that looks quite effective, I haven't tried it yet though I am afraid.

Thank you. I have not even attempted to recoil the dual heads and am using the old single coil ones I'll save you the bother then. I made a jig so I could make the coils seperately then bring them together putting a flavour wick between them and twisting the legs together then installing as usual. Although it was successful, it takes 5 times longer than a single coil, and nobody could tell the difference. So the jig is destined for a vaping museum in the future having only been used 15 times.

Mrsmac you maybe filling them to much which causes pressure in the tank causing the juice to to try and find a way out.....even going over by a fraction can cause this. If you want to be on the safe side of filling, if the manufacturer for instance says it holds 4ml fill it too 3.8ml, cartoimizer tanks are the worst for this as the cartomizer has a hole for the juice to escape in which results in a flooded cartomizer...with protanks the easiest escape route is through the cotton and down the bottom or up the centre tube if the seal is not great. Another thing it could also be is the cotton is too tight, a too tight wick will not hold juice well which leaves the juice another escape route.

I seeeeer, I must admit, I do take advantage of the capcity so will be mindful of that. Last night I took my coil out of the mega and put it in a protank 2 as I was getting annoyed with trying to seal it. Just couldn't make the seal between head and post, but you are right, it could also be a case of cotton judgement and filling. Out of interest the thread you done on the aerotank rebuild was using a single coil with a dual coil donut flipped over? No? Super-Shiny

Mrsmac for all my kanger stuff i just use the old heads with a single coil using a 1.5mm bit and leave the rubber seal the correct way, ain't had no problems yet unless i to get carried away with over filling them. You could also try putting a rubber washer on top for a extra seal as what seniorphil said. Something like this should work:

Do you have any old cigalike cartridges. Under the mouth end plastic cap there is often a silicon washer. Two of them are perfect.

Forgot to add to the above post, when i use the old heads for the Aerotank Mega i just put two rubber seal/grommets on, one on top of the other.

Thank you, I shall give the rubber I go. The other half was scratching his head as I was flipping donuts all weekend and remember not to overfill!
Thanks again all
